  • 3 New Attractions announced by HKDL today, HKDLR, 2006-12-14

HKDLR is first to bring you good news from HKDL.

    HKDL announced expansion plan today.

    3 New attractions for 2007 and 2008.

"Its a Small World" in first half of 2008. (so it's official)

A brand new parade for Summer 2007 (Water Fountain Floats/Water Spraying Floats will be the highlights for the New Parade)

And a New Animation Academy at Mainstreet USA.

The water spraying floats sound interesting.

Don't mean to sound negative... however, one new ride between now and 2008 is rather pathetic. Hope HKDL doesn't bust their budget going out on the limb like that. Now if they could turn IASW into a roller coaster version, they just might have an exciting e-ticket on their hands. With a little ingenuity, the ride could include a loop that travels around an icon that looks like Earth...much like California Screamin's Mickey.

I also found it rather pathetic. At this rate we might get a proper Disneyland by 2046.

I am sure some weezel corporate rat will be posting renderings of this on other sites soon enough.. and trust me, even knowing that IASW is coming, does not move me to tears in anticipation. Give HKDL something unique and something that will push the envelope pass the E-ticket category. That is what this park needs. And more guests too.

Well it sounds exciting I guess. The animation one is interesting...a nice "keep people here longer" attraction.

And it is about time they confirmed IASW. It was given the go months ago.

Im just happy that Hong Kong Disneyland is keeping on track with its promises for new attractions. But find it interesting how no Main Street Electrical Parade was annouced, must be waiting for Summer 2008 perhaps.

I find the inclusion of Small World-ified versions of the Disney characters interesting. DLRP.fr posted some pieces of concept art showing Cinderella in the French section of the ride, and she didn't stick out too much. I know it's hardly Earth shattering stuff, but it's a nice little touch, nevertheless.

June 19 is marked as a Special Ticket Day.

Could this be a possible opening day of the parade and/or Animation Academy?

Sorry Loomis, that is the day of the Dragon Boat festival. A statutory holiday here. It would have to be a special day because people will be off work, and the ticket price can go up. But your idea sounds better to me.

Ah, I figured there was a previously unknown-to-me festival happening. Will note it down in my diary.

Thanks, Katsmom. As Jack Sparrow would say, "You're a diamond, mate".

Thanks, mclubber. I was looking for something groovy like that. It will be really useful for my column and so forth. I've looked ahead, and Disney haven't classified some of those as Special Days, but most are classified during "peak" periods.

Coincidentally, I have been forced to buy two "Special Day" passports on separate ocasions (when my value passport is not honoroed) and the parks has been dead both "peak days". What gives???

If they did it for one they would have to do it for all?
