  • Photo trip report to HKDL, Dec 13-14

    Hi all,

Just got back from a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland, and thought I'd share some photos of our trip, including some shots of the Christmas decorations, as well as some *attempted* shots of the IASW construction (from the top of the Dumbo ride no less).

We went just as Typhoon Utor made Hong Kong a very wet place, so it was raining during the entire time we were there.
Anyway we just made the best of it.

Yay for photos from Dumbo! Just like here in WDW when they were filling in our lagoon.

I like the photos of Space Mountain. That is shocking!

ORDDU: Very nice photographs, SleeplessInSg, duckling! My sisters and I have been sharing them with all our neighbors in Morva.

ORWEN: Please feel free to show us any more pictures you take of Hong Kong Disneyland in the future!

        ORGOCH: Got frogs?

Very cool! After looking at this report, Hong Kong disneyland is my 2nd favorite Disney theme park! It looks just like myhome town park.

In all fairness to HKDL I have to say Space Mountain isn't that bad. You should see my balcony railings. The weather here is hard on outdoor paint. We've been in our house for 8 years and have had to repaint the balcony every spring. By the end of the typhoon season the paint is gone again. The combination of the hot sun, the strong winds and the rains are torture on the paint jobs. It's impossible to keep it on. It looks like Space Mountain is going to get a new paint job because the paint has been peeling since mid summer. This entire section being unpainted is a step forward. If they can get the paint to stay, I want the brand name.

              Awesome report! What cheap food!

It looks like you had an awesome time!

To live would be an awfully big adventure.

Shame about the rain, as we had a similar thing in September. There was a big typhoon in Hong Kong just before we left Australia (just as there was Katrina before we left for the US last year!), and it rained steadily for a few of the days we were there.

However, Sunny Bay - for the most part - lived up to its name.

Still, great photo report, Sleepless. You certainly have a good eye for detail. I ache to return!

ORDDU: My sisters and I had no idea that painting was such a challenge in Hong Kong.

ORGOCH: Here in Morva, we don't even try ta paint nothin'!

ORWEN: That's because the Horned King has to approve the color of everything and he seems only to like gray. That's why our entire country is so colorless--

ORDDU: --except for the rosy color of my cheeks!

ORWEN: Not to mention the gorgeous, bright orange hair that falls so becomingly around my shoulders.

ORGOCH: Too bad nobody gives a flyin' frog 'bout either one of ya's. Ya'd think--by now--if'n they can keep all them men up in space they could keep paint on a buildin' in Hong Kong!

On Space Mountain's paint job, I guess I was just shocked to see large chunks of peeling paint, in full view of everyone. Perhaps I had been spoilt by TDR's standards of upkeep that I would have thought that there would be more regular maintenance on Space Mountain.

Hopefully they'll find a better paint that lasts longer this time round (or at least paint more often!)
