According to RTHK News, The Concept Plan for the Development of Lantau Island has been revised.

In addition to infrastructural and Tourism/Entertainment related projects on North Lantau Island, Green Tourism will be the Theme for South Lantau Island.

    Future Development includes the following:
    - Proposed Sunny Bay Tourism Node (Leisure and Entertainment)

    - Proposed Theme Park development, East of Tung Chung

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More likely another theme park operator at Tung Chung East?

Definitely not referring to HKDL (Pennys Bay)

It is Tung Chung East. It is a reclamation site in front of the new residential area along the north shores of Tung Chung.

They have marked on the Concept map that it is destined for Theme Park. (but the land has been designated as ' theme park use' for quite a long while).

The map you've got is obsolete. (South of the land where HKDL is now located was originally zoned for Container Terminal. But my understanding is that they have abandoned the zoning for New Container Terminal (South of Pennys Bay). That's why the shape of the reclaimed land looks very odd.)

Oh~ that's why I can't see this map in other sites.

I can't get what you mean... the east of Tung Chung... Mui Wo? or the place named Siu Ho Wan?

Proposals to build a logistics park and a cross-border transport hub linking to the planned Hong Kong-Zhuhai- Macau bridge, an entertainment complex in Sunny Bay and a theme park in east Tung Chung in the long term, all part of the original Lantau concept plan, remain unchanged.

But the feasibility and implementation of many of the proposals put forward require "further studies" to confirm, the paper states.

A timetable for the plan's launch has not been revealed, although published reports cite a government source as saying work could start in 2010.

East of Tung Chung means literally that, the area to the east of Tung Chung town. That area is sea right now and does not exist, it will be reclaimed and a theme park will be built on it.

I think this theme park idea will struggle to come to life. They are supposed to build a theme park at Ma Wan and all the ideas put forward were banned. The only theme park that got built in the last ten years was HKDL, if you discount Wetland Park.

I just hope they don't over-develop the area. Also, I am wondering where they are getting all the money from to develop these areas. They already have their hands full with Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, West Kowloon, Tamar New Govt Offices, Kwun Tong re-development...etc.
