Lionsgate Entertainment World will open on 31 July in Hengqin, Zhuhai, China. Another competitor for the themepark business in the Pearl River Delta for HKDL.
The Thinkwell Group-designed indoor, multi-story "vertical theme park" will include attractions, dining, and retail themed to Lionsgate franchises popular in China, including The Hunger Games, The Twilight Saga, The Divergent Series, Now You See Me, Gods of Egypt, and Escape Plan.
With limited space, the attractions in the new Lionsgate Entertainment World will lean on simulators and virtual reality.
Divergent – Fear Simulator: A walk-through virtual reality attraction
Divergent – The Chasm Challenge Course: A multi-level climbing course
The Escape Plan – Prison Break: Escape room attraction
Gods of Egypt – Battle for Eternity: A VR roller coaster
Hunger Games – Mockingjay Flight Rebel Escape: A motion simulator ride
The Twilight Saga – Midnight Ride: A multi-player VR simulator ride on dirt bikes
The Twilight Saga – Bella’s Journey: A multimedia dark ride
Seems to be a small park with only simulators and virtual reality. The offering is more up to date and adult oriented so it is quite different from HKDL.
The good thing about simulators and virtual reality are that they are easily adaptable. They can change them to different themes a few years later if they have other popular properties in the next few years.
