Now that the Hk govt will start to reopen business as usual on May 4th. When will HKDL reopen? Will they wait til near end of June when Cathay Pacific restarts normal flights to reopen?

There are signs that the park is preparing to re-open. I think they will impose some strict capacity limits and social distancing will be required.
Since they already missed the local Buddhist Festival+Labour Day long weekend, I think they are not in a hurry and may open within the next 2 weeks.Jul 1992: Disneyland Paris

Ocean Park to limit visitors, no reopening date set
2020-05-08
Ocean Park says it will be implementing a cap on the number of daily visitors when it reopens, but no date has been set for this.
The amusement park has been shut since late January because of the Covid-19 outbreak, but is expected to reopen its doors soon as Hong Kong gradually eases some of its social distancing measures.
Ocean Park chief executive Matthias Li said there's no set date yet for when the park will reopen and management need to take into account how the Covid-19 situation in Hong Kong develops.
Li said that when they do reopen, there will be discounts on ticket prices, and they will only welcome fewer than 18,000 visitors at the beginning.
To ensure that the park stays below the 50 percent capacity, visitors will be required to register online first.
Precautionary measures like temperature checks and mandatory face masks will be in place, while the park facilities will be disinfected every one to two hours.
There will also be restrictions on the number of people who can enter indoor facilities.

I expect HKDL to follow similar or stricter guidelines when it re-opens.
I do wonder if HKDL will do the shows (Micky and the Wondrous Book, Festival of the Lion King + parades), because to have cast members singing loudly (thus spreading his/her droplets) may not be recommendable.Jul 1992: Disneyland Paris

It is true. But I can't find it on their website. In any case you need to book in advance before going. People who arrive without booking will be turned away.

Stephanie Young said HKDL are steady financially and have no need to layoff any staff. The resort will focus on local residents, hoping to attract locals to come for staycation. In the future it will target Thailand, Taiwan and the Philippiines etc. Edward Yau, commerce and economy undersecretary, said the park will face difficulties in the near future, as global tourism has yet to receover, and they will watch over their expenditures carefully.

Magic lives on for staff despite hard year ahead
Sophie Hui
Hong Kong Disneyland said it is financially sound and will not lay off staff, although this year will be challenging.
"We have been very fortunate with our financial stability that we have been able to manage the situation quite well, and we have not had to lay off any of our employees at the resort," managing director Stephanie Young told the Legislative Council economic development panel meeting yesterday.
She said the park, which reopened on Thursday after closing for almost five months amid the pandemic, will focus more on the local market at the moment.
"During the initial reopening, especially with the government quarantine requirements for inbound visitors, we are focusing on welcoming local guests," Young said.
"We feel that the local audiences are ready to get out of their home, to enjoy a nice vacation at our resort, stay one or two nights in the hotel and enjoy the park experience."
Large-scale events are planned to celebrate Disneyland's 15th anniversary, Young said, hoping to draw locals to the park.
Accounting-sector lawmaker Kenneth Leung Kai-cheong asked Young how the park would attract more non-local visitors from places apart from the mainland.
Young said Disney will put effort into attracting visitors from nearby places such as Thailand, Taiwan and the Philippines.
"We are going to pay very close attention to other close-vicinity markets and the travel bubbles that the government is working diligently on, and we will jump on those opportunities," she said.
Young also said its expansion will continue, but the construction cost, which they will continue to monitor, has increased.
Commerce and economic development secretary Edward Yau Tang-wah said Disneyland's revenue has improved in the first three quarters of last year.
But he believed the resort's operation will be difficult in the coming year as tourism has not yet recovered.

Young is cleared concerned about rising construction costs. Hopefully they can find a way of finishing construction without having to go back to HK govt and beg for more. But then everyone does and the govt just dish the money out anyway.Last edited by Asa; 06-28-2020, 10:58 PM.Jul 1992: Disneyland Paris
