Ah, so Shanghi Disneyland will have Spotlights and Fireworks and trees. That's pretty much all this concept art shows us.

We were sent over there with the message that only we would defend Disney quality.. We learnt quickly that the Japanese culture speaks to a level of quality that is hard to comprehend. They were all unbelievably skilled and willing to do the right thing.

                Thanks for posting that.

Here's hoping there will be a clear, hi-res pic made available in the near future. The PotC/Splash Mountain hybrid in the lower right is the only ride I can make out.

After blowing up the picture, I can make out a few things...the castle is definitely toward the back...where we'd normally see main st. it has a bit of a different rotunda out front...it actually reminds me of the main area of Vatican Square...

So it looks like Adventureland will be on the east side of the park this time...not sure what's on the lower left. I'm guessing there will be a tomorrowland/discoveryland somewhere, maybe that's whats down there?

Also, is that tents on the lower right side? Can't tell what that is supposed to be.

That almost looks like concept art for last year's Expo.

This doesn't look good as for the stability of the design. I don't see why they would be so secretive now as to release such an elusive concept art. Maybe they're just shuffling, reshuffling in circle as to suit both chinese and US suits.

This concept looks a lot like imagineers are missing or getting too many directives to be able to publicly display a stable design plan...

                      Hope i'm wrong though.

Maybe they are holding the design close to the vest because there will be radical differences between this Magic Kingdom style park, as compared to its older siblings...maybe?

I wouldn't expect much stability to the design - look at how radically different HKDL was from first unveiling of details in 1999 to opening day in 2005 - 80% of the content changed. Until construction goes vertical (2013-14?) everything can be in flux.

But I think non-stability can be a good thing. Take Mystic Manor, for instance. There is the possibility/rumor of significant changes to the attraction (LPS --> Omnimover, Magic Music Box --> Monkey King) from what was presented at D23 in 2009 to its opening in 2014. But even if the attraction built is not the same as what was shown to the public, it was still fun to get an inside peak at WDI's models, blueprints and artwork for the original concept. Better that than to never have known about the early version at all. (This is just an example, I expect/hope MM will still be the LPS version).

Fantasyland at MK is another example: we got to see models, artwork and blueprints for the Pixie Hollow/Princess areas, and even though now those areas will not come to pass, it was neat to see rarely-unveiled designs by Imagineering.

                          ***

Getting back to Shanghai. Looking at this hard-to-distinguish artwork (which was not officially released by Disney, but taken by an attendee at the investors conference), it still looks like a spectacular take on the Magic Kingdom (we will hopefully see a lot more by mid-April). So even if the design changes 100% from April 2011 to opening in 2015-16, from a fan's perspective, that just means we'll get to see that much more of the conceptual & design process (depending on what is revealed)... a good thing.

^ Actually, I think I'm wrong. I believe that blurred image was 'officially' sent over the online powerpoint to investors, but was intentionally anonymized as Disney doesn't want to reveal details until Beijing gives them a green light & joint ceremony.
