  • Google Map Coordinates for Shanghai Disneyland site

Actually, I am looking for the right coordinates. The map that is posted on Disney & More is great, but it shows highways that do not exist yet. Hovering above Shanghai on Google Earth did nothing to help me find the actual construction site. Can anyone provide the exact coordinates for the future park?

Well...its one of the top Super Cities on the planet...there are not a lot of undeveloped areas there. Especially between the city & the sea. Even heading inland...I was surprised in 11 months how much one area changed!

There is a link on this blog, Business-English-Speak, to a map in OpenStreetMap.org which has the Shanghai Disneyland site marked out. You can see its exact location there.

The blog post also has a news story and video on the recent breaking ground ceremony there, as well as some background on overseas Disneylands around the world.

It says there that they expect 7 million through the gate a year at Shanghai whereas Hong Kong has been weak around the 4 million mark since opening in 2005 (and making millions losses every single year since then). Paris started out bad, but came good after three years.

Shanghai will undoubtedly get more people since Mainland China has many more people than HK. But still, HKDL is doing better financially and attendance-wise (5 Million in 2010, bound to increase by a lot over the next few years). I hope SHDL's target per year is exceeded as opposed to what happened in Hong Kong.
