  • Shanghaî Disneyland Grand Opening Celebration Gala HD

It's in Mandarin and YouTube's translation feature is spotty at best. Don't forget that you can view the American coverage of the opening Thursday June 16th and Friday June 17th.

Fans around the world will be able to experience the spectacular, one-of-a-kind event when the “Grand Opening Celebration of Shanghai Disney Resort” television special is presented Thursday, June 16, at 8 p.m., simultaneously on Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD and each channel’s App, and then again Friday, June 17, at 10 p.m., on Freeform.

I'm so glad you posted this! Because of this thread I taped the special on the Disney channel today. Haven't watched it yet but will soon. Anyway, thanks!

I don't understand the special that aired on Disney Channel at all. While I am thrilled they had a special, and some of the music was quite beautiful, they literally did not show one inch of the new park beyond the castle. What's the point? And don't get me started on that obnoxious tween that talked over the whole thing. I wanted Ursula to show up and take away her flipping voice.

It kind if feels like a typical CCTV (China's official channel basically) New Year's celebration. It's really pretty, but not really, um, shall we say hip?

ccinsf Agreed! That teen was sooooooo annoying. They'd have been better off just subtitling it. And I was shocked that it wasn't a special behind the scenes look at the park. Very odd!

Yeah I too was unfortunately very disappointed. I expected to see musicians and singers but I thought they were going to show off portions of the actual park as well with footage of the rides, maybe some cool stuff showing off different lands, etc. I mean it was JUST the castle the entire time. At least include performances around other areas of the park.

And yes I wanted to strangle the girl who was translating and her mock excitement to it all. "Why this is just so so amazing, you see what he's doing there, how great is that singing voice, let me give you a run down of facts as he sings so you can really enjoy the moment." Yeah, after 10 mins of that I was basically done lol. It was OK overall but yes very odd they went this direction. People want to see the freakin park.
