  • Trip Report It's beginning to feel and look like Xmas at TDR

Hello all, I made an unscheduled visit to TDR today Nov 1st... just the day after the Halloween event ended.
I thought the resort would be quiet... but of course, it's a weekend. Fat chance! Both TDL and TDS were packed with guests in the evening hours.
Better yet, the gift shops have rolled out this year's Christmas merchandise today.. quite a splashy debut, with new Xmas themed bags and stuff. The Xmas balloons are on sale at both parks, and even some of the decor has been already put in place. most prominently is the new stage for the Xmas castle show this year. The stage is HUGE! but looks too much like it will be a BMX and barrio extravaganza.. with those looping ramps for the performers to do stunts and such. Not sure what to think of that just yet. Out front, even Tinkerbell is already sporting her red Xmas outfit as she holds the anniversary key over TDL's entrance. More work is underway at the hub for new decor to be in place shortly, and lots of new flower beds have been laid. Poinsettas have been hung at World Bazaar's lamp posts. Work has progressed quite nicely at IASW's facade and should be ready in a few days. I even noticed the Sogo sponsorship name has been taken off the marque... Hmmm.. what's up with that?
The Country bear's Xmas is playing already I was told and the Xmas decor was installed outside the theater as well.
Over at TDS... no decor has gone up yet but the Harborside Xmas 08 merchandise is flying off the shelves already.. especially Duffy's line.

Over at the new monsters' inc ride, the construction walls were taken down and now guests can appreciate the building's exterior much better. They have created a nice area with trees in between Monsters and Star Tours.. but sadly, the smokers are using it as a smoking area. Yuk! BTW... the Monsters ride will start giving TDR resort hotel guests previews before the official unveiling in april... reason to stay on property during the "dead" months of winter, eh?

Over at Ikspiari.... I am told the Xmas show is already playing in the plaza by the Disney Store and Planet Hollywood, and the xmas lights have gone up (and are already lit) at Ikspiari's facade facing Maihama Station.

Much work still needs to be done in order to transform TDR's parks into a winter wonderland but it should be a matter of days before it's all done.

As of today...nov 1st, no previews of any Xmas related shows have been held.... but patience my children.. it may happen before the end of this week...

.... And that's my little TDR Update for the 1st week of November... and some pictures will be posted here by the 3rd of november so check back this topic again....

Speaking of "dead" winter months. What do you think the traffic will look like during the week toward the end of the month. Going to be there M-F 17th-21st.

    Thanks

Darn it, and I still haven't found the time to search for video for A Table is Waiting!

Can't wait to see what pictures you bring back from the Chistmas Castle Show, as well as any you are able to get of this year's Duffy from TDS if they aren't all gone by the time you go back.

Well, I apologize for the slight delay.. and I will try to have a few pics up by tomorrow night...assuming my preferred candidate looses the election or else, I will party until the new year.

But... fear not... take a look at the official site's preview images..

This is what some areas of the park will look like:

And what the displays in the Hub will be like:

Some of TDL's Xmas 08 goods:

                  Some of TDS' goods:

Some of the Decor at TDS:

..and that's for starters at TDR.

YAY!! No more wood cutouts of the characters on American Waterfront!!

And they are advertising some very classy stuff this Christmas over at TDS. That leather-band wrist watch is rather nice.

Thanks for the TVCM link, TDLFAN! I still get goosebumps when I hear "Welcome to Christmas." A shame we won't hear the English version in the states.
