The Japan Times: Disneyland holds event to fill 2,000 jobs

On the Positive Side, it says quite a bit when the US Parks are on a hiring freeze, and TDR is hiring 2000 more CMs .

On the Negative Side, it also says a lot about the state of the Japanese Economy when you have thousands of people, including quite a few who until recently would've probably called working in a Theme Park a "3K" job (kitanai, kiken, and kitsui - Dirty, Dangerous and Demeaning) lining up to interview .

Just in case anyone in the Tokyo area is interested (and can speak fluent Japanese), the Job Fair will be continuing until 19:00 today (26 January, Monday) at the Tokyo International Forum in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. Or you can visit Tokyo Disney Resort's Casting Centre Website on

Tokyo Disney Resort is always hiring part-time CM positions. They have job fairs, recruiting drives, and hiring campaigns near college campuses all year round. These events intensify about a month before the long holiday season starts. The next long holiday is in Spring Break in March.

JOE!!! You've come out of hiding!!

The fact that TDR is hiring is not surprising. From what I was told, in any economy, when there is a resession, the entertainment business explodes. I, personally, don't believe this, but I'm starting to see more and more evidence proving this to be fact.

And how is working for a theme park "dangerous?"
