[Question] Weather in Japan

Ok, I just checked out weather.com for tokyo for the next 10 days & it looks like it's in the mid to high 70's (farenheit- don't give me that celsius crap-I'd rather convert yen than figure out temperature). It looks like possibly rain too for the next week-but that is probably just the estimated forecast. I'm sure it doesn't get too cold in the evenings- I normally don't even need a jacket till it drops into the low 50's.

For seasoned visitors, is this the rainy season for Japan? I haven't looked too much into it yet- I just hope it clears up a little when I get there on 9/28- I don't need that rainy day parade- I've seen it already!

Any help with the weather would be greatly appreciated.

I wish you were gifted since I keep checking weather.com & it says showers or scattered showers and thunderstorms just about every day next week! I hope the forecast is like Florida's weather and just means a shower sometime during the day in the later afternoon.

I hope I get to see the Halloween shows and Parades at least.

Looks like a chance of rain. However, in my many experiences at the park this time of year, September is rainier than October. And while they may often predict rain, frequently it does not rain, or rains at night. I've been at this time of year every year for the past five years, and it has at most rained on one day of my visit (usually out of five days), and often not at all or at night.

The unpredictability of the weather seems to stem from the fact that the resort is on the ocean, and Japan is a series of islands, and things change quickly.

So, I wouldn't worry about it too much. And at the Tokyo Disney Resort they sell these great umbrellas for about $10--nice quality and many people use them (thank goodness) instead of those horrible suffocating panchos! The umbrellas are so nice you'll want to bring them home. Much better than the trash you buy here for three times the price.

I never use those damn poncho's- I'd probably melt under one of them since I'm always warm and sweat very easily-being wrapped in plastic is the last thing I want to do.

Well.. they do sell a nice selection of umbrellas at TDR you know... and their ponchos are so much better in construction and quality over the crap they sell at the other 4 resorts.. which are the same exact ones. So TDR's ponchos are in a sense... collector items.

My husband and I traveled to TDR in September of 2006. It rained the most on that trip...and in Japan if they say there is a chance of rain, IT WILL RAIN at some point in the day. We still had a fantastic time at TDR despite the rain, but you might want to bring an extra pair of shoes to change into day after day. (Leave one back to dry and wear the other...)

And we also have a nice collection of the great umbrellas that they sell at the parks. You will want to pick one up!

Just a quick chime on this.

* It's not the rainy season (that's in late spring/early summer)
* It still rains often in September (esp compared to California); October is drier.
* But it usually rains only part of the day (late afternoon).
* Great umbrellas in Japan (even beyond TDR). I never take one there; I always buy one and bring it home.

I spent the day at TDS yesterday and it rained the whole day. ALL of the Halloween-related activities were cancelled. I even won the lottery for the Mysterious Masquerade only to have it cancelled. Very dissappointing. Note to TDS: figure out a way to have Halloween events that can run despite the bad weather. My only advice: be flexible and hope for the best!
