  • [Question] Okay, So (I'm Afraid to Ask) How Busy Is it During Spring "Holiday" Season?

My next trip to the Tokyo Disney Resort is dictated by circumstances beyond my control--I have to be in Japan for another reason so can't change the time.
I'm staying at the Disney Ambassador Hotel from March 22 to the 27th, and my Disney Vacation Club rate chart catagorized this as "Holiday Season" and it required a huge amount of DVC points to book the room.

Just how busy is it going to be that week (Monday through Friday)?

I believe you are visiting during Spring Break holidays when kids are out of school. Joe or Ichigopara please correct me?
If that is the case, do expect the parks to be very crowded and I would suggest you arrive early at opening time and play the "Fastpass game" so you can maximize your time there.

I always get there 30 to 45 minutes before the gates go up and and do FastPass.

I'm going to try and do the double-ticket thing to ensure getting FastPasses for everything without having to wait for my new new Fastpass window to open. I actually did this a few weeks ago: it was a pretty busy day, so I went into the park, rode Monster's Inc. then got a FastPass for Pooh. Immediately exited the park, bought a one-day ticket, and reentered the park using it, then got another FastPass for Splash Mountain and rode Big Thunder. Continued that way all day and it worked out really well. A four-day passport is so cheap at $150, that buying two of them just isn't much of a financial burden.

Forgive me but I do believe that idea to be a waste of money. To just get additional fastpasses? Not worth it IMHO. But if it works for you.. more power to you then.

Sounds like it can be a bit expensive for a fast pass, since a single day ticket isn't cheap compared to a 4 day, which is a much better value.

It wasn't too terrible the week I was there- we managed to ride Monsters inc twice a day for the 2 days we spent in TDL- I bypassed the early morning stampede & chose to walk-the wait time said 60 min, but we actually only waited 35-40 min & fastpass was still avail after we rode for after 10:45 that evening, so we just walked up & got one. I think the fastpass line for Monsters was too long to bother waiting on in the morning.

The next day was a little deceiving-the posted wait was 70 min- but it was raining steady all day- so we figured we'd wait & get out of the rain, since we didn't have much to do that day anyway. But something was off & we actually waited like an hour and 45 min. An older Japanese woman was complaining to a cast member about the wait time- from what I figured, she wrote down the time she got on line & was arguing about it with the cast member near the front of the line. No yelling involved, but I could figure out something was wrong.

We also got a fast pass that day for later that evening.

We kept lucking out on Pooh since the times we went, it never had more than a 20 min wait- but that was mainly in the evenings.

Since it sounds like spring break, the park will be packed. A four-day passport is about $150--cheap as dirt for what you get. Double that is still a bargain in my opinion. When the park is packed to the gills, being able to double up on Fastpasses to everything in both parks means riding a lot more attractions. I just did it at the beginning of October with a one-day ticket to see how it would work, and since it was a busy day, it worked really well.

By the way, JediMaster, you couldn't have gone back to Monster's Inc at 10:45 in the evening. The park closes at 10 pm and they close the line at Monster's Inc. at about 9:15 pm so everyone is out by 10:15 or so.

I must have had my time off- it was probably 8:45-9:45- I know it was right before the park closed when my fastpass was valid.

Fastpasses will be issued until close to closing time. The stand by lines will be close based on estimated wait times versus pask closing time. If a stand by line is posted at one hour, chances are they will close the stand by line one hour before park's closing time.
