  • [Question] Character meet and greets for kids only?

I was at Disneyland last week and while there I met a few different families that had been to TDR. Several people mentioned that the Characters in TDR are different from the US parks and that they don't take kindly to adult request for photos.
Has anyone had an experience like this?

Although, I don't plan on becoming an autograph hound If I should happen to see The Ducktales gang / Jimminy Cricket - I would want a photo.

I did a google search and I tried to find info but the only thing I found was a fluffy / nonsensical blog with a sentence or two claiming the same thing:

    cheeserland.com Blog Archive Disunirando ?

(Save yourself some time and scroll to the last few pictures.)

I've never had any trouble getting my picture taken with "free walking" characters. In fact, some characters (Minnie, Twiddledee, some Country Bears, etc.) run towards ME. Oh and as an FYI, TDR is now offering a service similar to PhotoPass in the US Parks. It began on October 1st.

Not sure who told you this information but its totally wrong. Most of the people that hang around the Characters in Tokyo are adult's. I have also like JoeInJpn had Characters run up to me for hugs when I have just been walking around minding my own buisness.

Characters in Tokyo can get mobbed by Guests from the second there walk on stage to the minute there walk of stage. And it will be the same people every time. Thats probarely why the person in the picture found the Characters favoured the kids more. She looks to be of Asian descent so the Character most likely mistook her for one of the several hundreds of fanatics that storm the park looking for Characters every day. One of the Characters shown in the picture Winnie the Pooh is not a free walking Character anyway and he has his own line. So he was most likely going on a break when the person tried to take his photo.

You do not need to worry Characters will be more than happy to take photo's and autograpgh's with anyone. No matter what age the person in question is, although you may need to wait your turn.

All is true above, you won't have any problems- the characters are just as friendly in Japan as they are in the US. The only problem you will have is getting near any of them with the huge crowds.

They do have some line control for the main characters- but the others it's usually a free for all- you just have to get lucky to get up to them before the hordes of others do.
