Very similar to the one at DHS, which I like and prefer over the DCA version, however they should have themed it similarly to the one at DCA given the outside architecture. Why is there this detailed Victorian architecture giving the illusion we are at a Victorian Seaside Park and then all the sudden we are inside a modern, shrunk down, toy world? I don't get it.

Probably didn't want an outdoor load/unload area due to the weather at TDR.

Agree it would have been better if it wasn't a modern bedroom.

As nice as it may look....I really do wish there was more to LOOK at or do in line for Toy Story in DCA...I mean the line moves pretty slow would be nice for some games to be scatter around or something

Agreed, and they did such an excellent job with the Turtle Talk with Crush area. I wonder if this is something that OLC insisted on? They seem to regularly visit both domestic resorts.

As expected it all looks really nice. But agreed about the theme.. why the transition to Andy's bedroom? I'm not sure how that works with the story they are telling outside the building.

DCA's queue may be simple but it maintains the illusion that you're at a boardwalk carnival, it really fits the setting of Paradise Pier. You are not inside the world of Toy Story until you go inside the actual ride.

Put simply, at DCA it is a Midway ride with a Toy Story theme.

At DHS (and TDS?) it's a Toy Story ride with a Midway theme.

Subtle difference, but I think Tokyo should have gone with the DCA approach.

Completely disagree with you guys, yes the outside is a carnival in NY but inside is a carnival created by the Toys in Andy's room. People really enjoyed the queue and it's really cool entering that giant door to get into the bedroom! The only thing I could find for the DCA queue online was an outdoor queue with Mr. Potato head, is that it? I'm really glad they went with what we have in that case!

I uploaded a ton of photo's yesterday on twitter if you want to see more queue photo's

                Re: Inside Toy Story Mania

In DCA's version you load onto the vehicles in the outside air on the boardwalk. You enter the attraction through a larger than life Toy Story Midway Mania game box. It is a little reminicent of the old Adventure Through Inner Space where you are made to feel like you have shrunk down in order to enter the game.

This link is to an article back when DHS's version opened but the photo is of DCA's game entrance.

Toy Story Midway Mania opens to annual passholders at Walt Disney World - Around Disney : The Orange County Register

There is no reference to Andy's room. I think that is why I think it flows nicely by maintaining the whole midway/boardwalk theme.

DHS's version you are in Pixar Place which is a studio environment and it isn't as akward to think you are entering a movie set of Andy's room. Mr Potato Head, who is a boardwalk barker, is strangely placed within Andy's room.

I'm sure TDS's version is well done and looks fabulous. For me it is a little awkward mixing a boardwalk theme with Andy's room. That's all. Not such a big deal and I'm sure 99.9% of the TDS Guests will not even think twice about it!

I'm not saying I don't like it (I see lots of fun details and the forced perspective looks great) I just wish they would have carried the Luna Park/Coney theme all the way through into the queue. For example, extending the midway theme, maybe even have the toys putting on little sideshow acts to lead into the ride. The transition to a giant toy room seems a bit odd is all, but it's just my opinion I'm sure the ride will be very popular over there!

I despise the queue at Disney's Hollywood Studios--stuck in a damn box for hours and it's uninteresting as hell. And you don't get to see Mr. Potato Head if you do FastPass (which is the only sane thing to do). Bad planning.

I much prefer the beautiful queue at DCA with old Potato Head outside where everyone can see him. He's a carnival barker: his purpose is to draw people INTO the attraction. That's what carnival barkers do. He only makes sense if he's outside!

The interior queue reminds me a bit of the interior of Mermaid Lagoon--total immersion. I like the pictures!

Ichigopara: just looked at your photos. Holy jumping jiminey! I can't believe the amount of detail lavished on every aspect. Another example of OLC making the Walt Disney Company look sick by comparison.

Wow, puts WDW's to shame (yet again)...there's so much that's so flat in WDW's queue, just plain with random stuff in random places.

That actually looks like a real bedroom...3 dimensional.

Anyway, how does the ride itself compare (not the screens, mind you, but the in-between parts...are they more detailed or about the same as the WDW one?)

                          Re: Inside Toy Story Mania

Mixed thoughts with what I've seen. I absolutely love the outside which is simply beautiful. But I agree with others that the inside queue should have reflected what was presented outside. It doesn't impress me much and comes across cheap looking. The murals look too flat and one dimensional. The building is full of the barrell monkeys and other cheap looking props that can be found scattered around DHS version and the Toy Story lands in Paris and Hong Kong. Its a shame and a bit of a let down that the inside has gone in this direction. Its also quite shocking to see OLC keep the DisneySea theme going when outside presentation is considered. But completely change theme and storyline the moment we enter the building. And so we are no longer at American Waterfront inside DisneySea but inside Andy's Room. For this reason the DCA version stands out as the superior version in my opinion. And for once OLC has not presented something better to what we have Stateside.
