Re: Very interesting JTB pamphlet! (Christmas Wishes 2012)
So they are using the old Be Magical greeting float as well?

If they are re-using the Fantasmic! hat for the Christmas show the hat needs to be adjustable!

So, will we be seeing the return of Candlelight Reflections? If so, I'm all for it.

Re: Very interesting JTB pamphlet! (Christmas Wishes 2012)
Looked at it again this Morning, I does look like the Fantasmic! hat. When you zoom in, you can see the different levels. It does look Impressive! I hope TDS is not cutting Christmas Wishes the show and/or Fantasmic! for this.
Anyone care to translate for us???

As far as what the pamphlet says... it just says "Tokyo DisneySEA special event, Christmas Wishes".

It can't be the hat because it's not tilted. It might be the Candlelight Reflections tree, which they should have brought out during Christmas after Fantasmic was done to add add a little extra magic to the Christmas Season, I mean, the hat was gone, they bring out the tree lowered (which it did when they were preparing for the show), made it rise, and lit it up.

Why do some of you think it is a re-used tree? I can totally see them building a new float/tree for this show. Especially because it will probably get used for the next three or more years.

True. I still want a new version of Candlelight Refections, even with a new tree, it could just be an homage to the showin one part. but an entirely different show all together and most fans would be happy.

I think the shape as a Christmas tree is more inhibiting and limits its use for the Christmas holiday season.

To me, that central tree looks too much like the Fantasmic! hat for me to suspect it may be something else. Although the hat does have a "tilt" from some viewing angles at some points in the show, it also doesn't at others. Ina lotmost of the concept art, it's shown straight. In some of the concept art, it's even shown with smooth sides rather than the terraced steps, which we know is meant to be an "image," not reality. When I see Mickey on top of it in photos and the actual show, it looks to me like it goes straight up. Perhaps there's something about the alignment of the different angles? The steps are not straight but angled, individually. Maybe depending on how each level is rotated, the overall structure can appear tilted or straight?
I know OLC is willing to spend obscene amounts of money in their pursuit of constantly keeping their experience fresh for guests, but your point about how it's programmable applies to the Fantasmic! hat, too. Some of us even talked about how it would make a good Christmas hat or Christmas tree when it debuted. I, for one, have always expected it to be used in precisely this way. I just can't imagine they invested the time and money to develop and build that barge for Fantasmic! less than a year ago and will now build a totally separate and yet nearly identical thing just for Christmas events, particularly for a three-year old show, particularly just before the huge 30th Anniversary. I think it must have been planned to be adaptable in this way when they designed it and that must be the Fantasmic! hat. I could be wrong, of course, but I would be very surprised.
In any case, this has solved the one serious problem I had with Christmas Wishes, no harbor show. I am now very excited for Christmas at DisneySEA! I always liked the concept because it includes all the Ports in the event. The one strange thing to me now is that there appear to be eight smaller trees; I would have expected seven, one for each Port of Call. That little blue one on the top left looks like it may be something different than a tree, though... Or maybe it's a wee little tree just for Cape Cod!:lmao:

This article shows a very tilted hat. Even if it were to be programmed to be a tree, it would look like the tree is falling over.

This photo shows the tree where it looks more straight up.

Here is another one where it really is tilted.

Unless the show designers really don't care that their tree will be tilted for most of the viewing audience, I'd say that they are two different floats. I could be wrong. Just going to have to wait until the show premieres.
Also wondering why you say this is a three year old show??!?!! None of us have seen it in the past, so that is why we don't know if the float is from Fantasmic! or not. If you mean the Christmas Wishes "event name", how long a event name is used doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the shows. The Christmas Fantasy event name at TDL has been around for years (1990s) yet they keep having updated and new shows and parades. And if Christmas Wishes were to go away at TDS for a new name, that doesn't necessarily mean they couldn't use the tree again.
