  • [Question] Shiki Theater

I'm heading to Tokyo first two weeks of May and am currently debating whether or not to experience one of the Disney productions at one of the Shiki theaters. The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast have been playing for years while The Little Mermaid is opening later this month. I know they're performed entirely in Japanese, but I am avid theatergoer here in New York and figure it could be fun to see one.

Anyone ever attended one and/or have ticket purchasing advice or experiences?

    Re: Shiki Theater

well, I can tell you that I asked them about Little Mermaid and they're booked through June. They did say they have a cancellation line by phone beginning at 3 pm for shows on the following day. That number is 0120-489-444

they also sent along the following links:
    Show Schedule:
    Seating Chart:

they told me I could go to the gift shop even without a ticket as long as I don't go during intermission or at show start, so at a minimum I plan on doing that.

I'm on the fence about it being in Japanese. I did see The Little Mermaid on Broadway (not my favorite) and I know and love the film and its songs, so I think it might be interesting to see it all in Japanese. After a 14 hour flight, 2 hours of straight Japanese isn't going to kill me. But not sure I can manage fitting in the actual show anyway.
