[Fun] Natsu Matsuri 2013 (Summer Festival)

The latest issue of DFan has a preview of the goodies. Here's what I've been able to find so far:






:love: those water drops! If that's any indication, pink Minnie might be more prominent this year. Last year was her intro, and the only item she was pink was the tin cell strap. She's adorable either way so I don't mind.

While I wait 'till more is posted, or the site goes live, here are a few of my hopes.

Mickey water drop pendant. Last year only Minnie got the treatment so I can see them doing Mickey and possibly re-releasing Minnie in pink. Really would love him!

Water Drop plugys (earphone jack covers.) Practically the law that every theme gets them now so it's pretty much a given.

Water Drop plushies! Seriously, can't believe they haven't already been done. They would be so cute! I would love if they would be the size of the ghost pair they've done the past two years. Badges or straps would be just as nice too.

Pass holders. The drops are just tailored made for the sequin kind.

Candy cases. Haven't been done and would be cool.

Menu cup and plates in the shape of the water drops.

Least likely - a popcorn bucket.

I could go on...

Does anyone know what the date range of this event is?

We will be there very early September (1st-3rd) wondering is we will see the end of it or not.

If you are there on the last few days there is a good possibility many of the items will be sold out.

I've experienced, with Halloween merchandise, that by the third week of the special event, with weeks still to be before Halloween, that a number of items were sold out.

Yeah, when we went last year and it was the week before Christmas (around the 17th or so) they were already sold out of the cute Mickey/Minnie gingerbread plush badges.

Tons of cute stuff! Looks like I was right about Minnie, I only see her in pink. I also guessed correctly about them re-releasing the light-up pendant, still no sign of Mickey though. Love how the drops have different expressions this time around for the merch. Kawaii! Also notice the plush cushion? Good sign we might finally see some real plush this year.

The new Mickey lantern is pretty cute. Fits nicely with the theme.

Looks like another great year. Can't wait to see the customizable item!

Anyones guess, really. Think it has been some time since they've done those so that's gives hope. We should be finding out more merch info from the next Disney Fan.

Essentially the original charm that they have for the 30th Anniversary... only with the water drops.

Summer Festival:



Name tag accessory. Kinda cool, if only for the water drop charm.

Honestly though, I'm kinda disappointed in both. I was hoping for something like last years or even leather tags. Eh.

Edit: on further research, pretty sure these aren't the *official* custom items, just choices on already established or yet-to-be released series. Which makes sense. (didn't know about the Happiness name tags) So there still might be hope for something more cool. Phew!

Thanks for the updates, Danimated. It's fun to see summer being celebrated in Japan. Somehow it makes it seem not so very far away, even though we are nearly half way across the world.

DreamSweetLove, that's a fantastic video. You must have been soaked! I'll wager it felt pretty good in all that steamy heat, though. Thanks for sharing!

Got one of my wishes... sort of. They released earphone jacks of the water drops, only it's not the kind I was hoping for. I prefer them the usual way, not having them dangle. It's like having two straps on my phone. Still gonna get them, but I hope this isn't a trend that will continue for Halloween and Christmas.

I know most of the site is all in Japanese, so I'll have to figure it out if they do.

I don't believe so....You might be able to use a 3rd party personal shopping website but with MD's already 15% markup and the 3rd party fees on top of that might add up to some hefty fees over retail
