i think if the 3rd park was to be build it will just like tokyo is reclaiming some land for the olympics and thats really expensive.

Couple of datapoints to add to this....
      • OLC's "real" business is reclaiming land. If any company has the expertise in this, it's OLC.
      • They break down a hill in the countryside to use as fill for reclamation.
      • OLC develops both the leveled and the reclaimed land.

Anyway, that's my long winded way of saying, for the 3rd gate they'll reclaim land.

I think they're a long way from adding a third park. They can still add half a dozen attractions at each park.

Brilliant plan, rushtest4echo! You even have room for a 4th park there is more of Tokyo Bay is reclaimed. In fact, who needs Tokyo Bay? Fill it with more Disney Parks!

But I think they might handle back-of-house more like they did in DisneySea: putting it in the middle of the park (beside the volcano).

Here's a glimpse of a 3rd gate I designed for TDR, after reading from LP's venerable LeeMac (I think) that further landfill in the Bay was off the table. A lot of blue-sky, unrealistic stuff here (like removing all the un-themed hotels and building a mock Avengers Heli-carrier to expand the footprint).

Removing all the unthemed hotels? What's the point of speculating about something that is never ever going to happen? Everyone is making a lot of money off those hotels, which have very high occupancy almost year round. Where do you expect all the people who stay in those hotels to go?

^I'm not speculating so much as sharing a personal, fantasy plan in service to a better creative vision (removing the un-themed hotels which are significant eyesores from numerous places within the parks) under the supposed limitations of the site and land availability. To answer your question: In the plan, some of the lost rooms are made up by a new in-park, themed hotel.

While your talents are very apparent, I kinda agree with Fukai... what's the point, fantasizing or not?

I fantasize about having a magic portal that would take me to any Disney Park in the world instantaneously. I fantasize about being married to Jessica Alba. I fantasize about being able to buy a churro from Disney for a quarter.

All my fantasies x 1 Million are still worth zero since they are all not even remotely possible.

I think fantasizing is ok, especially with stuff related to Disney!

Actually, from everything I've seen (admittedly not much), TDR draws from the Tokyo metropolitan area and some from Kansai and the rest of Japan, not China.

Vast majority of TDR's customers are Japanese. Very few Chinese visit TDR who in turn will comprise a vast majority of the SDL's customers. So very little impact either way.

I've heard differing reports from my friends in Japan about the number of Chinese visitors to the Tokyo Disney Resort: everything from 10% to 30%. I can see that the 30% is not true just from personal experience, however I do see far more Chinese (or should I say, that I hear far more Chinese) than I see or hear western people.

Re: Where could TDR build a THIRD PARK?

OLC's official Theme Park report states that for the period of 4/12-3/13 2.6% of TDR's Guests were from overseas.

Since the other 97.4% of Guests are from Japan and overseas Guests include all other countries, the percentage of Guests from China is less that 2.6%.

The report doesn't break down the overseas Guests by country, but my guess is the vast majority of the 2.6% are from China or other Asian countries. My guess would be that less than one percent are from western countries.

Based on the data I don't think that HKDL or SHDL will have much of any affect on the attendance at TDR.

                              Just FYI if interested....

                                Thanks, Roger!

However, Fukai, I completely agree that I hear people speaking mandarin (guonhua) much more than I see Westerners.

I also wonder how they count overseas guests. It's not that you have to register some details with a ticket.

TDR guest numbers have nothing to do with how many park they have in China. The parks in China are aimed at a totally different market than the parks in Japan.

Even if China open a third Disney Resort and India a first it will not hurt Tokyos Disney parks in any way at all.

Most of the Chinese (more specifically mandarin) being spoken at TDR is probably coming from Taiwanese guests. Unlike China, Taiwan has generally friendly relations with Japan and their citizens receive visa exempt status.
