Splash is by far the best "Mountain" attraction at TDL... It leaves the ones at WDW and DL in the dust. 2nd best is Big Thunder, which is IMO the 2nd best version after DLP's.

Just can't beat this beautiful ride in terms of scenery, delightful music and characters galore. The twists, turns and drops make the adventure worth repeating again and again. :yea:

What makes BTM better at Tokyo than in the United States?

And is Space Mountain still the old Disneyland CA version from the 70s?

TDL's BTM debuted some differences not seen in the US but adopted at Paris..like the train traveling in front of the queue to get back to the platform and the use of fiber optics in the last lift to simulate gold dust coming down.... But to me.. What makes TDL's version better is the scenery.. It starts off like WDW's in a much bigger and brighter mine train cave, incorporates DL's coyote canyon and cave.. adds a bat cave with deliciously steep drop in the end (where dino bones are), the whole ride has a nicer look overall... I too prefer DL's for being the only left-handed version out there. WDW is the one that severely lacks in many ways..

...and yes, TDL Space Mt is still the original DL's Space ride... as it was when it debuted in 77. However...there will be changes coming to it soon.

What's different about the Splash Mountain in Tokyo from the WDW version? Do they sing in Japanese?!

Splash Mountain is easily the champion mountain here.

The differences are too many to point out. The fact that the entire ride is in japanese language is the most obvious factor. While the ride itself follows a similar plot.. from the techincal point of view... TDL's version features better brighter lighting, more AA's, differently arranged scenes and a more cartoonish and colorful look to the ride. The queue itself is 5 times bigger than WDW's and even includes an AA owl.. It's mostly indoors with an built in indoor river/fountain where you can see water running down and dripping in some areas... Very beautiful. The ride itself is about one minute longer than WDW... The vehicles have lapbars.. etc etc etc...
Way too many differences and way to many questions on Tokyo Disney resort TDR Fan...
I do not know why you have not made your reservation to go to TDR and see for yourself, unless you are a kid without a job and unable to travel.. What's up with that?

Don't worry...the planned date is July 16th because that's when all rides are open from their rehabs...
