  • Jttcote Closed In Summer!?!?!?!?

i planned my trip to the tokyo disney resort 2 years ago...making sure i booked it for the middle of june, to make extra sure that all the major rides would be open. after 2 years of anticipation, i am finally going next month. only to see that the tokyo disney sea website says that "journey to the center of the earth" will be closed for 3 weeks in june. WTF?!?!?!? not only am i horrified...but also confused. why would this marquee attraction be closed during the middle of summer? is it not as busy at tokyo disney during the summer? i'm almost tempted to cancel my trip i'm so upset. i know that the parks have much more to offer, but all i've ever heard was that this attraction was the biggest attraction wdi has ever done. i want to complain to tokyo disney..but there is no "contact us" section on their site. sorry for venting, i was just wondering if some other tokyo disney fans could shed some light on this for me. thanks a lot!

June may be your vacation time at home, however, it is school time in Japan. Early May and late July/August are other break times. It is unfortunate though that they picked June this year. According to records, the attraction has usually been closed mid to late May the last 3 years.

Ok...first and foremost... you made plans for your trip at the worng time. June is rainy season and the parks are pretty slow for the most part, and June it's NOT concidered summer time in Japan just like it is for us in the USA.
That is the reason why JTTCOTE may be closed during those days. Summer for the japanese is the month of August when everyone is on vacation and traveling...and may I add, the worst possible time to visit since the parks are packed, hot and very humid in Tokyo.

As for JTTCOTE being "the biggest attraction done by WDI"... I dunno about that. JTTCOTE is ig but it's only a 3 minute ride and I personally do not concider it to be the biggest, brightest thing ever created by Imagineering. It sure is a fun ride but not the blockbuster you make it out to be. I am affraid you would be disappointed if you rode JTTCOTE thinking this is the biggest thing ever by WDI.

As for comments....they do not have that on the site. You will have to talk to someone in Guest Relations or else send a written comment in the mail to TDR's address in Japan.

Very sorry you have this dilemma, but there is a lot to see at TDR and just because JTTCOTE is closed, it should not deter you. Personally, I would be more concerned about the weather in June, as it often rains and many outdoor shows are cancelled, especially the seasonal special events.
Good luck with what you will decide to do.

I do not agree TDLFAN! I have been to WDW many times, and the rain is not that big a deal. You throw on a poncho and go about your day. Plus, the rain is heavier on the west side of Japan.

The fact the TDR is "pretty slow" during June is a huge plus in my eyes. Less people is a good thing, especially when you consider the amount people who go to these parks. I mean, I saw a photo of line for a fastpass, and let me say that it was the longest line I have ever seen! And that was just for fastpass. So when you think about it, June is a great time to go.

What is upsetting is the fact the this ride IS the biggest ride at Disney Sea. They should close it down in February, March, April or May. Also, there should have been some notification that the main attraction at Disney Sea would be closed during the stay.

I'm so sorry you have your trip already planned and booked. We are going in early June and one of the reason we planned for that time was that JTTCOTE was closing. The friends we are traveling with didn't get to experience this attraction last time they visited so we planned around that.

I worry about the rain a bit, but looking at the past weather history, it's really not that bad in the Tokyo area. You'll have a great time in spite of the closure. It just gives you a good reason to go back!

So when IS the best time to visit TDR, when all attractions are likely to be open? Anytime other than August?

Oct and December, but beware....crowds are heavy due to the popular Halooween and Christmas events.

Of course you do not agree!!! My comments are based on my personal opinion and are not the truth according to the Bible!! I personally do not enjoy doing the parks in the rain but if you love the way you look in a poncho, then more power to you splish and splashing around the parks!!!

thanks for all the info everybody. i decided to cancel my trip...cut my losses and plan out my visit to tokyo disney another time. (when i know "journey" will be open)

to TDL fan, thanks for all your info and insight! "jttcote" may or may not live up to the hype, but either way...if i'm going to spend thousands of dollars to see tokyo disney...i'd want to be able to at least form my own opinion, and see everything that i possibly could. know what i mean? btw....what do you think is the biggest/greatest ride put together by wdi?

well, i want to thank everyone who responded to my desperate cry..haha. i really appreciated it. i guess i'll just reschedule my tokyo trip for another time.......after "raging spirits" and "tower of terror" open. thanks everybody!

Absolutely know what you mean, and i would be disappointed too. But if you don't mind waiting another year or so after TOT has opened...then be my guest. Still keep in mind..something will be bound to be closed at TDR at the time of your visit since their maintenance rotation is more comprehensive (it seems) when compared to the other resorts. Case in point..."BraviSEAmo!" was down for a few days, and last month, Space Mt. was also down for rehab when it appeared to have been rehabbed not long ago in my estimation.

IMHO?? The best WDI ride ever...I would have to say DLP's Pirates of the Caribbean.
