  • A few random thoughts on Walt DisneyWorld

Got back last week from my second ever DisneyWorld vacation (first time I went was in 1997), and thought I'd share a few thoughts on the experience:

    The good:
-I LOVE how much more room there is. Disneyland, especially with the crowds lately, is clogged beyond comparison. Orlando, with the gift of hindsight is more designed for easy accessibility to all the lands.
-Philharmagic was a really cool show, I don't know why they don't export it to other parks (HISTA replacement, anyone?).
-the Magic Kingdom's Splash Mountain just seems so much longer somehow
-Expedition Everest is definitely a new favorite.
-Orlando's Tower of Terror definitely owns the Anaheim one.
-all around, MGM studios is still one of my favorite theme parks in the world.
-the Magic Kingdom Tomorrowland seems to have so much more to do than Anaheim's.

    The bad:
-Kali River Rapids was a complete dissapointment; it's really short, the one drop pales in comparison to Grizzly River Rapids, and the theme makes no sense--I knew we were supposed to be floating through a burning rainforest, but one of the kids on our raft blurted out during the ride "Where are we supposed to be anyway?" the 'story' of the ride simply isn't clear unless you already know.
-the dining--not much more than hamburgers and fries available anywhere outside Epcot; I have a low expectation for theme park food, I just want more variety.
-Epcot, even with all the new (to me) thrill rides, still bores me. I kept on thinking on Mission Space: "some kid died on this?" The only real high point was Test Track.
-Animal Kingdom seems to have a lot of empty space between attractions.

    The ugly:
-that stupid hat in MGM; whose brilliant idea was it to cover up the park's focal point.?

I've used "a little disappointing" once when talking about the Aladdin Lagoon show, but that was it so far.
