I need Orange Bird help! :)

My partner collects Orange Bird merchandise, and I know Tokyo Disneyland has quite a bit of it. I looked on their website to see if I could contact the park and perhaps order something online. No luck.

Other than Ebay, does anyone know where I could get Orange Bird merchandise? I'd love to go to Tokyo DL myself, but that's not in the budget for a while

Here's an Orange Bird i picked up from Japan's Tomy's Disney's Magical Collection toy line. Approx $10.









It's smaller than a Star Wars figure if that gives you any idea of how big it is.

I vaguely recall Orange Bird from one of my first visits to WDW. I had no idea that Orange Bird paraphernalia was still available, let alone in Japan.

Coheteboy, did you buy that Orange Bird figure in Japan? I've seen Tomy Magical Collection figures at various collectibles stores in the US, but I don't recall seeing this particular one... and an online search for places that might sell these figures didn't yield anything...

Wow, you learn something new every day. Such a random character, it figures that the Japanese would embrace it, even though it's associated with Florida.

So, the Japanese page said the Orange Bird character, designed by Walt Disney, was used in the 70's by the Florida Orange Growers Association. Although he can't sing, stuff that he wants to say or is thinking appears in an orange cloud above his head. Is there more backstory to this character?

DisneyCraig, I am sorry to inform you but most of the Orange Bird merchandise on sale at TDR has been sold out for a while now. There may still be one or two items available, here and there... but most of it is already history.

They may be small, but they are VERY worth collecting! I love these figures... and they grab lots of rather obscure characters, too. A couple of years ago, I got a Pablo the Penguin for my sister.

Thanks, JoeInJpn, for posting those links. I can't read Japanese, but it looks like one of the sites is selling the figure for 1029 yen. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to order it and doubt they would ship it here anyway. But at least it's still in circulation, so to speak.

And thanks for the info, Coheteboy. I do attend toy and collectible shows every now and then (and comic conventions are also selling more and more collectible figures), so I'll keep my eye out the next time I'm at an appropriate venue.

Disneycraig, the only Orange bird stuff I saw at TDL tonight was in the Grand Emporium... it was an 18" tall vinyl plush of the character (took a picture of it) and they cost Y5,200. If it wasn't because that doll is so big, I would have taken it to myself to purchase one... but would have been a chore for me to do that. Sorry.

I just got my Tomy Magical Collection Orange Bird in the mail today... I found an online U.S. site that sells these figures after Googling around a bit. (Funny how similar searches will sometimes come up with completely different results.)

It's a pleasant reminder of those early trips to WDW. I wish I still had some of those souvenirs around (I vaguely remember a vinyl blow-up Orange Bird), but oh well... I'll plan to get a citrus swirl at the Sunshine Tree Terrace when I'm at the MK in a few weeks, for old time's sake.

The only problem is now I'm tempted to buy more of these Magical Collection figures... there are so many esoteric ones floating around...
