  • idea for an 8th port at Tokyo DisneySea

I dunno if they will ever expand Tokyo DisneySea and add new ports cause of the use of the "seven seas" term. (Still dont know where that came from.) But if they ever did do one I had a couple of ideas.

My idea of an 8th port would be devoted to the South Pacific/Great Barrier Reef. A section of the part would be themed after the Eastern Australian Coast where there would be live animals on display. And a theater shaped after the Sydney Opera House. What would be in it? Finding Nemo the musical or something like that. They could add some Finding Nemo rides like Crush's roller coaster or something like that.

An idea i thought of today would be an area themed after the show Lost. Where you walk onto an island and you find the Oceanic plane wreckage. It's a playground basically. Though I dunno what the fan base is like for the show in Japan. There would also be a store called "Sawyer's Secret Stash" (no porno or cigarrettes will be sold though) and a food stand designed after "the kitchen" on the show. For the adults and kids there also a exploration base where you walk into an underground base and explore and tour all of the different Dharma stations.

Clever idea. I love the Lost idea, however I'm not even sure if that show is broadcast in Japan.

How about a Hercules port with the Underwood and stuff or Viking area, with Trolls, Sea Serpents, and Norse Mythology of the sea?

It's a good thing that the "Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage" is only so-so, or they would be clamoring for a Japanese version.

The list of Disney attractions NOT PRESENT at the Tokyo Disney resort is pretty small. They do a great job of offering everything possible that's available in the states.

I guess Tokyo DisneySea will never be completed as long as there are MiceChatters in the world.

They'll probably develop a bigger better SOARIN that will end up being cloned for the rest of the world.

If we are using this forum as a base to run of ideas for future attractions I'd like to propose that Little Mermaid dark ride thats aparently heading to DCA.Only thing is does Mermaid Lagoon have enough space to hold it.

I would not like to see live animals or any Pixar franchises. In fact I don't want to see a lot of cartoon stuff at all. The Little Mermaid fits perfectly but I can't think of much that would. More toons would only make TDS' mostly serious tone suffer.

Yeah, it's not like I don't like that stuff. I love magic kingdom style parks, but that's not what TDS is supposed to be. If they start loading it up with Nemo and Buzz Lightyear and Sleeping Beauty and all that stuff, it'll just be the same as Disneyland.

There is such an amazing contrast between the two parks in Tokyo. Serious vs. whimsical. Adventure vs. fantasy. I really wish we had that kind of contrast in Anaheim.

But its the character driven stuff that the Japanese love the most. Its a reason why TDL always feels more crowded while the crowds at TDS are always quite manageble. Its also what sells the most merchadise.

"Lost" started broadcasting in Japan on satellite TV about a year after the US. The cast has visited Tokyo at least twice to promote show. Since then, it has been the most popular English-language series here. Season three is now shown weekly on AXN Japan. Walk into any video rental shop and you'll most likely see LOST posters and other merchandise. Lastly, fansub versions have usually been some of the biggest downloads on P2P networks such as Winny.

Its also hugely popular this side of the world too.Sadly Disney has shown no interest in using Lost in any of its theme parks.Maybe its time Disney built a new park to cater to brands that don't fit the Disney image.

Seriously. They have the unused "Discovery Island" at WDW which could have been a very interesting place to build a "Lost" attraction.

The only problem is how long interest in the show would last for the investment of capital involved... In the U.S. they likely missed the show's peak popularity. Tokyo would have a slight advantage, being a year behind.
