I find it curious they are offering early entry during periods that have been historically "slow" at TDR. Furthermore.. I wish OLC didn't do this (which I am assuming is yet another way they are emulating DisneyCo for the worst, and if I didn't know any better... I am willing to bet an american manager is pushing this idea on them). Early entry, Fastpass, and anything that creates a dual or preferred "status" at any Disney park, should be terminated at once. No one should be made to feel or be better than any other guest while at the park.Comment

Every hotel offer perks. This is Disney's, as is the private entrance at the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.
Should they also close that? Or stop dining reservations? I'm not saying failure to offer it would keep me away from staying at a Disney property, but it's nice to know that there is a little extra magic offered. Besides, most Guests don't even know there was early entry if they don't go, it's not like Fastpass where you watch people stride right by you.
However, it shouldn't be offered every day, as that wouldn't drive length of stay at the hotel.Giraffes, Gazelles, Gzebras, Glions and Oy, Gvultures.

I agree with you on the Fast Pass matter but have to disagree on them offering hotel guest extra hours in the park. You pay top buck for these kind of rooms and I feel if your not going to get a few added extras why do it. Guest visiting that day won't loose out as park will still be operating normal hours, but by offering an extra hour or two I feel its a nice gesture for them to make as a thank you for guest who have purchased a holiday package.Comment

TDLFAN, it really sounds like your ideal theme park experience would be in a place like Cuba, North Korea, or some other communist country where everyone is "equal", and thus their experiences are all "equal".
Not everyone's experiences are equal, or can be equal because of one of a myriad of different reasons, and there's nothing wrong with offering people perks like Early Entry. Not only do the people choose to pay more for the hotel, but they also choose to wake up extremely early to take advantage of Early Entry. Those Early Entry hours don't take one second away from the time a guest who buys a 1-day ticket has in the park.
So a non-early entry guest has the same choice of attractions they had if early entry didn't exist. Those guests who arrived when the park opened also have a wider selection of FastPass tickets to obtain than someone who arrives halfway into the operating day. Does that make FP unfair? No, the difference comes in time of entry.
This is the way it's been for years with theme parks - come early and reap some rewards that those who didn't come early won't get. Put 1,000 people in a theme park, and they'll have 1,000 different agendas, all of which affect the 'fairness' of their experience. It would be extremely monotenous for everyone to have the exact same experience at any theme park. But, that would be the only way to ensure it's 'fair' for everyone.

When I stayed at one of the official hotels I didn't even know they did early entry. When we bought our tickets from the hotel they gave us a couple of passes and we managed to get a lot done on what became a pretty busy day. It allowed us to take our time later on and made it easy for us not to rush.
Since I live in Anaheim I've never had a reason to stay at a Disney Resort Hotel and get early entry, nor would it really benefit me since I can go anytime anyway. I have no problem with Disney Resort Hotel guests getting early entry and I have no idea why anyone else would. It's a nice perk for tourists, and it was cool getting it as a tourist overseas.Comment

Those "official" hotels benefit the TDR Parks, themselves, and the guests who want to visit TDR. They try to make themselves available to as many people of as many levels as possible. That's why there are so many pricing levels in those hotels. The potential customers can then choose what they want to pay for. That's called freedom of choice and capitalism.
Now that is all fine, early entry included, until it starts including things like all-day front of the line passes, or 'enhanced' FastPasses. Fortunately, the potential guests of the park know of these potential hotel perks, and the park operators know that any perk that depresses their experience will mean a reduction in tickets sold at the main gate. For that reason, these perks are usually not offered, so there's not much to worry about.
Nothing wrong with early entry, nothing wrong with FastPass. It's still as equal a playing field as it was before them.

Yeah, I don't find any problems with the early entry programs only then the fact the park is a little extra full that day, but there's nothing 'wrong' with it. Its just a special benefit for people who stay in the hotels and since TDL offers muuuch less than the American parks, espeically the money you pay, I say this is long past due.Comment
