  • Sinbad

I know the parks are closed right now, but when my friend and I were there two years ago, I thought I had heard that Sinbad might not be sticking around. So I'm not asking with regard to the virus, but rather in general. Is it still there?

I sure hope it never closes. One of my favorite attractions, if not my favorite, at TDS. What a glorious song, and overall presentation in this attraction. Almost brought tears to my eyes.

    Oops. This was accidental post.

Hope it is still there. It was a sweet ride (rode in fall of 2018).

The Sinbad ride was kind off a a dud in it's original version but the revision with the Alan Menken song is pretty amazing. I love the wood-carved look of the animatronics. Too bad that they don't really sell a lot of merchandise with the exception of Chantu plushies.

I think it will stay, it doesn't sell a lot, but it is a beloved attraction. It's also a great family ride, when it seems like thrills are at Disney's forefront.

I love this ride. It was also my favorite at TDS. I had received some bad news the week before and my husband took me to TDS to cheer me up. The song and the ride were so peaceful and relaxing and really calmed me during a difficult time. I know that sounds weird, but music has that effect on me.

That isn't weird at all. It's a wonderful, uplifting song that not only fits the ride but is beautiful in it's own right.

I bet if they put a copy of this ride in DL's FL they'd sell a lot of Chandu merch. Since that's what's important to them and all. And we'd get a great ride out of it. Only problem is there are already two boat rides right by the only place it would fit.

You're welcome. I love the song as well. It's one of my favorite Alan Menken/Glenn Slater compositions (who also worked on the Tangled soundtrack)
I love how soothing the chorus is. It obviously fits the ride extremely well but it can stand on it's own as well.
It's also suprising how it doesn't sound like an Aladdin soundtrack left over, on which Menken also worked.

Here's Alan Menken himself singing it during a Japanese D23 event:

We WILL visit Japan including Tokyo Disneyland within the next 5 years, as Walt & Miyazaki are my witnesses!

I wish some Americans who travel to Walt Disney World every year would skip a year to save money, then go to Japan or France the next year. In addition to a day or two at Disney Parks they could visit Tokyo & Kyoto or Paris. (SKIP Disney's studios park in Paris, BTW, or else you might spend the next decade or two bitterly trying to get revenge on that park with internet posts on Disney fan forums.
                            )

Thank you, Jord! My Golden Retriever just lowered her eyebrows at his singing, but I liked it; Menken was all in!

Basically, this attraction is the story of Sindbad and his tiger, Chandu, who go out in search of adventure. This is an educational tour recommended for kids.

I can relate. About ten years ago I was depressed for several months after two bad events, and then my daughter (who was about 6) and I tried zip lining for just $10 at the L.A. County Fair.

My daughter looked scared at the top of the 5-story tower (it may have been smaller, but it looked rickety & really high up) and I thought "Whew, we won't have to do this!" But her professional-looking helper gently asked her if she wanted him to push her out. "Yes."

My helper looked stoned & had a tattoos of a snake & Charles Manson on his face (he's gotten worse in my memory), but I jumped out off this tower to follow my daughter on my line next to hers. Suddenly I was flying and had a huge adrenaline rush, and for some reason people below were looking up, so naturally I went into Disneyland fireworks Tinker Bell/Rose Queen/hammy Jungle Cruise guide mode & waved to all. That ride jolted me out of my depression and I was back! So I can relate to an excellent Tokyo Disneyland ride improving your life!
