  • Swiss family tree house fire

It caught on fire during the open hours for the first time in history and 100 people had to evacuate. They are still looking into what caused the fire. The details available are in this article but there is not much. Everything else went normally and there was about 60,000 people in the park.

Maybe someone was smoking in the tree.

I can not read the link. Sounds like something with the wires. Can you still smoke in TDL?

My understanding is the fire was started in the bedroom area of the treehouse. It could have been an electrical fire that started the incident, or else...Tarzan must be a beast in bed!

As for smoking at TDR, the same policy now in place at WDW and DLR applies to TDR's parks. Smoking is only permitted in designated smoking areas only, and for the most part, nearly 100% of the smoker guests obey that rule. Extremely seldom have I seen guests smoking while walking around the parks outside a smoking area, and those I have seen ...I suspect to be chinese or korean guests.

Yikes! My immediate guess would be a smoker as well.

I hope that the damages, minor or serious, are fixed ASAP.

So glad to hear that no one got hurt. It does bring up a good point if OLC will use the recent fire as an escuse to change things or close it down altogether.
