  • What's the Disney Mall??

I've been spending some time perusing pins on pinpics. I saw that some pins are from the "Disney Mall" in Japan? I'm picturing a large building full of pins with a ray of light coming down on it from the sky. Is it an actual mall full of Disney stuff or is it just a website?

It's actually part of disney.co.jp, and is run by Amazon Japan:

Pin Trading is very much a US thing, and Japan doesn't seem to have much of it, but they are giving away pins with the purchase of certain CDs.

You are correct. Pin Trading died at Tokyo Disney Resort years ago, and I wish Disney did the same at the other 4 parks worldwide.

Just out of curosity, how did Pin Trading die in Tokyo? Maybe that can help speed things along in the rest of the parks if it follows the same route as Tokyo.

Me too. Seeing the creepy fat guys with their bazillion pin trading books at the tables at Downtown Disney in Orlando just makes me shake my head. I remember one guy offered my mom any 30 of his pins for her rhinestone Mickey ears pin she wears on her jean jacket (she bought it at the Disney Store almost 20 years ago). She just said "No thanks" and walked away.

It was WAY WAY too popular. Some fanatic guests were showing up at the park with display boards and the like to show off pins, and to make matters worst, there were so many pin traders camping in some areas of the park that it would cause a lot of congestion and chaos in some areas. ... And for a park that is as constantly busy and crowded at TDL, I guess the OLC people just didn't want to put up with that kind of logistic problems. So Pin Trading was terminated for good.. and frankly? I do not miss it. I personally like to see the CM wearing their costumes properly, without silly pin lanyards around their necks... and NO pin fanatics around. TDL is a better park for not having Pin Trading.

Now, If only they could pull the plug on Fastpass, it would be even better.
