Just curious as to what you guys are hoping for. I like the observation balloon idea. http://www.mouseextra.com/2008/06/30...loses/#respond

I could do without the t-shirt place, but...

I think the future for Downtown Disney is looking very bright. I love the idea of the t-shirt store, & hope something like it comes out over to Disneyland.

I'm excited about the future of DTD. Maybe at one point the clubs were great, but I just don't think they are attracting the kind of crowd Disney wants on site. I like the idea of more shopping and dining. My family loves the marketplace, we have hardly ever been through pleasure island, especially since my daughter was born. Clubs aren't something we consider family friendly. I think a majority of people visiting the resort feel the same way. But thats my humble opinion. I'm hoping it will more closely resemble the Downtown Disney at the Disneyland resort.

That's why there's a lot of other things to do at WDW. They have a lot more niches to fill than the other parks, as there's a lot more varied competition and a lot more audiences, from the tourists to the locals to the even the college kids from around the country who spend a few months there working.

What you're saying is essentially correct, but it's the kind of thing that's said when you treat WDW like any of the other parks, and it isn't.

It going to be a LESS happy WDW without the Adventurers Club and without the Comedy Club.
Critter Country's a mess ev'r since the Country Bears were kicked out. Ya can't cover pooh with honey and 'spect people ta like it.

I wish the adventurers club and the comedy club were staying, other than that I don't really care. I know there are those who liked them, but they apparently aren't pulling in the numbers they need. I've never once used them, so for me its not hurting anything at all.

What I am a bit unclear on is who exactly the new PI is for?

Will locals choose to shop at a Hanes store (probably at ridiculous mark ups) with tourists when they can purchase these items elsewhere? It may be different for WDW, but I've lived near two tourist destinations and there was always the price gouging tourist areas and then the places where the locals went. Locals going to the clubs... I get that as the ticket price was lower than some clubs cover charge.

Will tourists go there just to shop? Shopping alone does not create a reason to go someplace (at least for me). Did I buy stuff at DTD? Yes, because I was on my way to/from the AC.

More for families. I think the biggest probem was people stopped going there due to the steep cover charge

With all the places to eat and all the shops, all they have to do is throw in a couple of rides and charge you for the Downtown Disney Park. It doesn't seem like PI is high on their list of things to do, and I dread more and more stores selling the same Disney Parks merch and more out-sourced, non-Disney restaurants.

A lot of the Disney eateries are getting less and less exciting with their menu. Our best bet for new types of food maybe the outsurced places

Right on, but are you saying that Disney couldn't come up with a dinosaur-themed restaurant? If the majority of the stand-out buildings are all owned and operated by someone else, then that part of property becomes less and less Disney. Two big non-Disney buildings next to the bridges connecting to Pleasure Island (RIP)? At least stick some mouse ears in there somewhere.

Do you think the reason why Disney's operated eateries are getting less and less exciting is because of the more freebies and breaks guests gets... like the Dinning Plan card and such??
