  • [Rumor] So they are getting rid of shows/parades and raising prices??!!

I read this in my mousesavers newsletter:
Disney World Ticket Prices Rumored to Go UP on Sunday! There is a strong rumor that Walt Disney World ticket prices will be going up on Sunday, August 3.
I am actually kind of ticked off. At this time I think raising the ticket price is a little uncalled for.

Unfortunately that's business. The price of everything has gone up - gas, electricity, insurance etc etc. Whilst it would be good if Disney absorbed these extra costs it's inevitable that cut backs or price rises will occur. Economics I'm afraid.
Now I'll turn that little mouse's dream into a nightmare Fantasmic !

You must not know the operating cost of the place.

Pretty soon it'll be $100 a pop for just one day and $500 AP's.

if prices at WDW are gonna go up, then I'm hoping for Disney stock prices to go down...cause I think I'm in the market to buy some stock soon

For the longest time, I have been criticizing WDW for this very same issue (while being criticized back by the many company spies who post here as "fans" when they are actually paid to defent the company's actions right and left while also being criticized for praising Tokyo Disney Resort for offering much more and varied entertainment to day guests for regular prices that only seem to increase every 4 years or so..).
I would like to suggest you write to WDW's Guest Relations and voice you disatisfaction on this. It won't change the way things are (because management there do not care about the "show" at all) but at least... it will make you feel good.

Actually no, it is not. The reason why they based their business model on budgets while not being able to deliver is because WDW is too big to keep up in top shape, and because the top managers are going home with major pay bonuses that will cut into the product we guests receive. When you are basically giving away 4+ day passports for peanuts a day after the 4th day... you are not paying the necesary amount, and when you are paying less than $175 a night at hotels on WDW property... no, it's not enough either to give you the quality you expect from Disney. Keep in mind... my premium AP to TDR costs me $700 per year to renew and I get nothing special for it... no discounts on hotels, merchandise.. etc. But the amount of stuff there is to do in those two parks, plus the amount of special events they put on throughout the year, fill my calendar with activities that even at WDW's parks, it would take them 5 years to match.

They could raise the prices of other things, like Deluxe room rates, and leave the park admission prices alone, but I guess they just don't wanna...

This is why no one should go to Disneyland anymore, then they probably start to drop the price...

Don't kid yourself. Prices will not drop, as long as WDW continues to fill their coffers with infrequent tourists who do not see Disney in any different light than any other theme park company out there. But, the sad part is that Disneyland in CA is a much better deal than WDW and even they have much more to offer in that little park than they give us at the MK. Plus great atmosphere and theming that the MK simple lacks.
I would go to DLR anytime over WDW.

No it won't. No one likes knowing that they are not being listened to.

Then if that is how you feel...you are agreeing to their bad decision calls that diminishes the quality of what you are recieving at WDW. I know they do not care and I know by heart the scripted answer you will get from them every time... but me? Yes, I will unload my concern and feel good doing so... because at least I walk away with the satisfaction that someone got ticked off and rolled their eyes at me simply because I complained.

When you put it that way, it does make sense.
I think I will right an email of complaint.

This is where I disagree with you. Your only comparing DL to MK. In order to factor in the entire value you need to factor in all parks.

The tickets at Disneyland/DCA are close to if not more than WDW tickets.

The Premium AP for Disneyland is $379, only $100 less than the non-waterpark/DisneyQuest AP at WDW at $477. And for that $100 at WDW you get 2 extra parks. Not to mention AMAZING discounts.

The AP discounts on Disneyland hotels are a joke. With only 3 hotels, when they do have good AP rates, they are gone instantly.

Even with the Park-Hopper/Magic Your Way tickets, WDW still comes out ahead, at least IMO:

                              1 day 1 park:
                              Disneyland: $56 (child) - $66 (adult)
                              WDW: $63.90 (child) - $75.62 (adult)
                              Advantage Disneyland

                              3 day park hopper:
                              Disneyland: $139 (child) - $169 (adult)
                              WDW: $277.12 (child) - $261.20 (adult)
                              Advantage Disneyland

                              5 day park hopper:
                              Disneyland: $164 (child) - $194 (adult)
                              WDW: $235.64 (child) - $273.98 (adult)
                              Advantage Disneyland

Now this is where it get's interesting. Disneyland doesn't have anything over a 5-day park hopper. Why???

Could it be because even Disney see's that 5 days between only 2 parks with no outside activities or resorts is more than enough?

So let's start looking at the "Magic Your Way" prices for a more typical WDW stay, because honestly, how many people REALLY go to WDW for one day?

Okay, a 5 day park hopper for Disneyland is about $32.80 per day for a Child and $38.80 for an adult.

7 day magic your way (WDW)
                              $238.83 (child) - $278.24 (adult)
So only a few dollars more than a 5 day and brings our daily to $34.10 for a child and $39.17 for an adult.

10 day magic your way (WDW)
                              $244.16 (child) - $284.63 (adult)
So only a few dollars more again and brings our daily to $24.16 for a child and $28.46 for an adult.

No option for DL (other than an AP) will bring your daily average below $32.80.

Not to even mention that an AP renewal for WDW will give you approx. $50 off rather than the $20 we get with a Disneyland renewal.

And as far as WDW is concerned, buying tickets from Disney when you can go to OFT is not very smart.

                              (shameless plug)
