  • [Pictures] Disney World Pictures of Osborne Family Christmas Lights - Dec 7, 2008

I took some pictures of the The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Christmas Lights. There was a big crowd enjoying the display:

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights presented by Sylvania entrance sign

Christmas nativity scene of Mary, Joseph, and the Christ child

Peace on Earth globe with angles

Huge Christmas tree made of blue lights with angle on top

Merry Christmas sign with angles flying in the background

You can check out more pictures (about 30 of them) on my web site, starting here:

Thank you for sharing. I think the Osborne Lights are one of the coolest things Disney does for Christmas anywhere.
Let's put the Walt back in Disney!

One question, who is the Osbourne Family? Is it Ozzy Osbourne?

Nope - he is Jennings Osborne, a guy from Arkansas who got carried away with his home lighting project over the years. About the same time that the city council was going to shut him down, Disney swooped in and made the deal for the lights to be shown in the Studios. The display has grown over the years in number of lights and complexity of control, but a lot of the basics (the big globe, the flying angels) are still there. A really terrific show, and a big DON'T MISS for the holiday season.

Danyoung, thanks for the info, I couldn't find it on the Disney website, or for that matter, anywhere else, unless I didn't know how to search... You would think Disney would make a big deal or at the very least a mention about it's origin. We don't live in Florida, so it will probably be a while before I can enjoy it, but thanks for the photos!
