  • News Space Mountain Refurb Confirmed!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, space mountain's refurb date has finally been announced to us humble cast memebers by our management team!!!

Space Mt. will go down on April 19th, 2009 for a proected 10 month or more rehab. The only things we know for certain are that we will be getting much needed load station gates and rockets with easier to use lap bar pedals. Yes there is much more, but we are not certain about what this will entail. For example, the track will certainly get some heavy duty lovin', but full replacement?? were not sure. As far as I'm concerned, I think they will replace the whole track seeing as how A-side is suffereing some critical track faults and leaks lately....ride B-side ladies and gentlemen....trust me on this ......Warmest regards!!

I will be at WDW at the end of this month. OK, how do you choose B side over A side? I don't recall it being marked A or B...

Also, shouldn't they just shut down A side, if it's getting dangerous?

There are going to be a LOT of angry guests this year (especially over Christmas)!
Tomorrowland will become a ghost town - nothing there but rides for the kiddies.

I don't care if their are angry guests or not. WDW needs to start conditioning its guests to being used to one attraction being down all the time for refurb like they do in Tokyo. You pretty much just expect to not ride one thing while you're there because its in refurb, however you can look past that because everything else is in such great shape.

I also take issue with the only rides in Tomorrowland being kiddie rides. Two of my favorite attractions in all of the MK are CoP and TTA. I wouldn't relegate either one of those to kiddie attraction. Thrill ride? Certainly not, but definitely not a kiddie ride.

That's the sort of attitude that scares Disney enough for rides to get like this in the first place.

It will definetly be down for my trip in May but I had expected it. It really needs to be fixed up so I am looking forward to ride a new and improved in 2010.

Let's hope they don't do ANYTHING to change TTA.... last thing I want to see happen is what happened to the People mover at DL... the Peoplemover technology will basically run forever if you Just maintain it. It's amazing how every person who comes over from the west coast comments on how much they miss it in DL.

I'm glad to see Space Mountain getting some much needed TLC, I only hope 10 months will be enough to get all the work done to it that it really needs. It really needed to be done a couple years back.

While I am most certainly happy this is getting a much needed refurb, there is one thing that's irking me.

For a attraction that did just fine without them, to me load gates are more of a pain since it slows down loading and dispatches.

Now I know there are plenty of attractions that use them in WDW, but it's still a pain to see them added to an attraction that's been doing just fine without them.

I'm not crazy, now if you will excuse me I have tea time with the ghosts at Haunted Mansion.

It will be down during portions of the refurb (I don't think for the whole time though). I haven't heard if anything will done to it while it is down.

                              Bravo Disney.

This is the type of thing I want to see at Walt Disney World, more attention sent to the attractions that need it. I'm glad they decided to refurb it (hopefully) before a Big Thunder-sized accident took place.
