  • [Question] Super Bowl in the World

    Hey everybody!

So I'm heading to the World with my wife and a friend who is an INSANE steelers fan...he won't be able to live with himself if he doesn't see the Super Bowl. Besides ESPNZone, where's a good place to go see the game? Anybody know if there's anything special going on for the SuperBowl at one of the resorts?

    Thanks in advance...

There's a Buffalo Wild Wings over at the Crossroads on 535, which is across from Hotel Plaza Blvd & Downtown Disney. Tons of TVs and big-screen projections. Great place to watch any major sports event... and the food is pretty good too and decently priced. I'm a regular at the location near my house. I love their boneless wings.

Does crowd activity in WDW change any during Super Bowl weekend due to the Super Bowl, or do we just see the normal weekend swell compared to mid-week?

Re: Super Bowl in the World

Not everyone likes football or watches the Super Bowl, so I'd just expect regular weekend crowds... maybe a little more as some people believe the myth that the parks are empty on Super Bowl Sunday.

The "World"? Ugh! The "World" of what? The World of "Disney"? The "World" of Carpets on OBT? Another "World" beyond the Milky Way? Or are you talking about going to "DISNEY" World?

Hey now, I call it "The World" quite often, it doesn't desensitize it or demean the proper term for me. It's putting a nickname to something in the form of affection, that implies attachment and there's nothing wrong with that TDL.

Yeah, I figured "Walt Disney World" would be implied since I was posting in the Walt Disney World Resort forum.

Thanks for the advice so far...I heard that Cape May Cafe did some sort of Super Bowl event last year, with a ticketed buffet and drinks. Has anybody done that here? Or know if it's happening again this year?

It does demean it for me (like when people call me just "TDL", which is actually the "park" and not TDLFAN?) Makes WDW as a whole feel "average" to just call it "the World". But you know this is just my petpeeve. I prefer to use the proper names for the various parks, Summer.

I'd rather "the World" than just "Disney"
At least there's some sort of hint as to which one the person is talking about....

Anyway, Stefan, I hope that your friend gets to see the game!
                        Good morning, son
                        In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                        It was pain
                        Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I sure hope he does too! After talking to WDW-INFO on the phone (or World Info, as I like to call it ), I've found out that there's nothing official on the books right now...my phone person suggested just finding a comfortable bar with a tv that's on, so I think that's what we're a-gonna do.

And TDLFAN, I'll be extra conscientious about not calling it the World if I see you lurking about. I'll still call going to Disneyland "visiting the Land" though.

Sacreligious! That is something Moses would say to the masses at the bottom of the Mount.
