  • News Changes to Disney Magical Express Service

Disney has announced some changes to the Magical Express Service:

Effective now--only one Magical Express Luggage tag (the yellow sticker one) will be sent per Guest, but more may be requested by calling Magical Express or your Travel Agent.

Effective March 30, luggage delivery will not be available for Guests arriving between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. You will need to claim their own bags and take them to the Magical Express Reception area and on to the motor coach yourself.

They're just trying to make it harder on us west coast people so we will go to Disneyland instead of Disney World.

I think the morning part if OK because the red-eyes don't start arriving earlier than 5:00am do they? 10:00pm may be a little early though.
Maybe you folks can tell me though. Does gettin' two womenfolk mean you're the winner or the loser?

So if you are scheduled to land before 10pm and due to flight delays your plane doesn't land until after that then you're out of luck?

Thats not clarified, but its not really out of luck.

If they take your bags, then goody goody, your bags have been taken

If they don't take your bags, you go get them, and then put them on the bus yourself. Many people do this already.

I guess a worst case would be you think they are going to deliver your bags for you, you get to the podium and ask, and they say "no, your plane came in too late" and you have to walk over to the other side and get your bags.

In reality, since they ask for your flight information, they should know all the DME flights comming in. If it's a before 10 flight, they should pick up your luggage no matter when it comes in. If its a scheduled after 10, then you should not even be sent tags.

well that sounds fair to me. I'm happy nonetheless that MDS even exists. Now had we had to pay for extra yellow sticker tags well then I would have rolled my eyes and probably had been upset for a like a split second.

DME does send the guests something informing them of this right? I can't imagine a guest walking onto DME, getting to WDW, asking the front desk where their bags are, only to find out their bags are still sitting at MCO & they need to go back & pick them up somehow. That would be an unfortunate situation.

Now let's call this what this is - Decline by Degrees. Disney doesn't have to market this any less, but nevertheless it IS a small reduction of a WDW guest service. Logically, Disney should mention this when they advertise DME as a perk of staying on-property, but that'll never happen. This fits Mr. Yee's definition of Decline by Degrees pretty much to a T.
