  • [Question] It's tough to be a bug('s breakfast)?

So my question is about whether you get bugged a lot visiting WDW in spring/summer? Specifically, I have a WDW trip booked in early May, and have never been to Orlando during that time of year. Do you get attacked by a lot of bugs at the WDW parks in May, and if so, how do you deal with it? Any info will be much appreciated! Thanks.

Not as much as you would expect, most of the natural bodies of water on property are well stocked with fish and along with the abundant bird population that keep the mosquitoes and all to a minimum. Disney also releases ladybird beetles (ladybugs) to naturally control pests as well and even allow guests to participate at some of the resorts. Still you can get the sunscreen with mosquito repellent in case your sensitive to insect bites as well but typically it's not a big deal.

Thanks, Brad. I'm not overly sensitive, I just don't want to get swarmed lol.

I don't remember which time of the year it was, but when I was at Port Orleans Riverside, I got bitten by the bugs pretty bad. I think it happened during my morning walk to the food court. By the time, I realized how many bug bites I had, on the exposed part of my arms, and legs, there wasn't much I could do, except scratch, or actually try not scratch.

The bugs have always liked to chew me up. When I was a kid, we would stay out late at night, and the next day, we would count our mosquito bites. I always had the most.

Now when I work outside in my garden, I try to remember to put on some insect repellent. I like the one, that also contains sunscreen. I kill 2 birds with one stone, or in this case, bugs, and sunburn.

BA...they like me too. My husband can go out without bug spray and be fine. Me? I walk out the door and it's pretty much like a cartoon. I get swarmed, and run back into the house.

That being said...I've NEVER had any problems with bugs at WDW. Even when we stayed at Pop right next to the lake. Love bugs, is another story. But....they don't bite.

When I read this thread title, I thought the OP was asking if there was an It's Tough To Be a Bug character breakfast!

I actually thought the same thing. That would be a lot of fun, by the way

You missed the apostrophe lol. To avoid confusion, maybe I should have chosen this title: "it's tough to be a bug('s dinner)"

Everytime I've gone to WDW, Lovebugs have been an annoyance, but just like the tram cast member said "These bugs are just as harmless as they are annoying" They don't bite but when they land on our neck, its really annoying. Thats the only bad experience I've had with bugs.
