[Rumor] Animal Kingdom To Get Journey To the Center of the Earth

Technologically speaking, Disney Sea's Journey To the Center of the Earth is said to be a second generation Test Track ride system. This pretty much means that Cars Race Ralley will be a third generation TT ride. If Screamscapes rumor regarding Journey drilling it's way to paydirt at Animal Kingdom proves true, I would fully expect it to be a third generation system as well. It would be bound to be technologically advance over it's DS predecessor.

The ride is said to become the centerpiece for the new Beastly Kingdom. Other rides and at least one new show would also be a part of the long awaited land. Journey is said to debut sometime in 2012 or 2013. Disney imagineers are also said to be engaged in the process of brainstorming new mythical beasts for the e-ticket focal point headliner.

An intriqueing consideration is the former riverboat attraction. Now that WDI is rmored to be engaged in the creation of new mythical creatures, one has to wonder if some of them will become denizens along the route of a new river excursion. Perhaps the lochness monster will be on the prowl.

WDW is now Walt Clone World. Really. Make something new people. I'm all for Beastly Kingdom, but create something new.

I share your concern over cloned attractions, k_peek. But, everything aside from the Bug's film is one-of-a-kind. Odds are that WDW Journey would be significantly different from it's DisneySea predecessor.

Anyone complaining about bringing a clone of anything from Tokyo makes me laugh. You can clone the park exactly like it is in Tokyo and I'll be happy.

Yet nobody complains when each park has a Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean, Splash/Space/Big Thunder Mountain, Dumbo, Tea Cups, IASW, Star Tours, etc.

In fact, just the opposite. If you'll recall one of the biggest complaints about HKDL that it didn't have the "staple" rides like Pirates and Haunted Mansion.

IMO, I'd be THRILLED if they brought this to DAK. It's not a clone from DL, but from 1/2 a world away at TDS. I'm sure most visitors to WDW know nothing about this ride from another park.

I hope this is true. If this does happen, it would help make up for the MK becoming Princess Land. I'm really excited about JTTCOTE. It is practically the best possible WDW news I could hope for.

Well since I most likely will never see the original attraction at TDS I would be happy to get a clone if it is a good ride.

I agree, I don't care how good the attraction is, what will make me want to go to Tokyo appose to WDW? They need to identify themselves for once. I can almost guarantee you that TSMM was designed for DCA, then TLM.

It won't compare to Tokyo though because of the lack of volcano and atmosphere.

Good point! Tokyo Disney Sea is the best and most unique park of the modern Disney era.

Plenty have also complaind about Disneyland not having a Pooh ride that comes anywhere close to the quality and advanced technology of the Tokyo ride.

If WDW insists on wasting so much space on an area that is void of any rides ... well, it's idiot management should prepare themselves for a continual flow of disparaging criticisms from unhappy guests.

Plus, the ride may well be significantly different than Tokyo's ... yet of equal if not more modernised quality.

We do not yet know that a volcano will not be included. You are right though, ICe, that this is one of the main thematic elements that makes the ride interesting in Tokyo.

Even if they do have a volcano, it won't look good at all. I mean a volcano and Mt. Everest that close to each other, yeah right...

I tend to agree. While I like each park to have unique attractions, everything in the park doesn't have to be unique. Also, I said this on another thread ... I think the people who go to both Disneyland and WDW on a regular basis is small compared to the majority of the guests. Those who go to both Tokyo and WDW is even much smaller than that. For me, I still hope to go to the Tokyo park, no matter what similar attractions are copied here in the US parks.

I also agree with the view that clones do not matter much to everyday people. Seriously...what percentage of the world population visits even ONE of the Disney resorts? Then what percentage of THAT visits more than one?

Now take THAT percentage. What part of that group of people is going to have their day ruined by seeing two identical attractions in both parks?

The idea that somehow normal guests-99.9% of visitors-will be offended at the idea of two similar rides in different parks a world away from each other is laughable, at the least.

Until more news is released, just think of Everest and Journey's volcano as "Dueling Mountains" ... shall we say, Ice Mountain vs. Fire Mountain. Freeze or Burn! Hypothermia or Incineration! Which fate do you choose?

Most people would give their eye-tooth to visit both the WDW and Disney Sea parks. Doubt that too many would say, "On account of the clones I would rather go to Magic Mountain."

I'm not a big fan of cloning all across the parks. They need to be unique. But truthfully, when it comes to cloning something from Tokyo. How many of WDW's visitors will ever have a chance to visit Tokyo. Heck, how many of them even know that a park in Tokyo exists?

I can understand wanting DL and WDW to have attractions unique to each other. However, visting TDR is alot harder and more expensive than visiting both DL and WDW for American guests.

Yes. A trip to both WDW and Disneyland (for american guests) would in most instances be far easier on ones budget ... and possibly time as well. It would definitely be easier (in all respects) for most Americans to visit a Tokyo clone of Journey at WDW in Florida.

An addition to Fantasyland AND getting the Beastly Kingdom? Sorry, I'm getting a little bit more skeptical. I mean come on... Can't even finish or demolish the skeleton of Poop Century Antique years and they are building a $500 million expansion at the MK and bringing Journey here as well??? Not saying I wouldn't mind it though. Just seams like wishful thinking or Disney toying with our emotions.

I think I am going to have to pull the BS flag and that is a 10 yard penalty. Fourth down.

WDW has always added attractions ...usually cheap ones lately ... but Everest, Soarin', and Mission: Space are recent additions that have envolved considerably investment. While your reluctance to believe is understandable, Disney's behavior is too unpredictable to call these rumors BS.
