  • [Question] When is the most exciting part of a trip ?

When is the most exciting part of a trip ? What do you remember the most ? Simple questions, but are the answers that simple ?

    Deciding to go ?
    Deciding which resort ?
    Deciding itinery ?
    A week out ?
    packing cases ?
Waking on the morning, knowing you'll next be sleeping in WDW ?
    At the airport ?
    Arriving on property ?
The first visit to a park ?
When you really feel "there" (you've done a bit), but there's still seems enough time before you have to go home ?

We're due to arrive Friday, and it's through observing 3 kids and myself that prompted me to ask what others think.
Smile, you never know who's looking !

It's all exciting. Honestly, one thing that adds value to a Disney World vacation, is the amount of time spent planning and thinking about it (to me at least). Consider that a bonus on your actual time in the resort.

I'm trying to think of one thing that I remember most about Disney World, and it's really hard to pin down that one special moment or aspect of the trip.

Some exciting moments from past trips:

-Experiencing the Adventure's Club and just being blown away at how unique and fun an experience it is.

-When the Magical Express Bus arrives on WDW property, especially having been away for over a decade.

-Walking into Animal Kingdom for the first time and being totally wowed.

-Dinner and fireworks at the Contemporary.

-Checking into Coronada Springs and realizing what I missed out on by staying at Pop Century the previous trip.

If I had to say what I remember the most, I would just say the overall ambience. The feeling of being in a completely different world, all the time, for a week or how ever long I'm there for.

I have to agree that it's all exciting. However, the moments that are usually the most exciting for me would be first deciding to go, and first arriving on property. But maybe the most exciting part for me is first entering the park in the morning, and knowing I have an entire day ahead of me.

I don't get excited until the day before I leave. It's exciting to be on the way and arrive there! And walking into the park for the first time in the trip!
          Good morning, son
          In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
          It was pain
          Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

The first day.....walking through the gates of the MK, and walking past the Kodak building. Those first glimpses of Main Street, and as you turn the corner...Cinderella Castle. Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.

God willing....only a little over a week, and I'll be there...doing just that!

Simply put. For me personally, it's just the anticipation to the trip. As in knowing in a couple of weeks/counting down the days until the trip. But, oddly enough, not the trip itself.

Gotta agree here. To me, it's the best feeling in the world. Every little thing from there seems to be pure bliss.

Seeing the Disney, Universal, SeaWorld stores in the terminal...
                  Riding the airport monorail.
                  Magic Express...
                  Passing the WDW Marquee...

All of those things from the moment you step off the plane keep building until you find yourself @ WDW.

I just got back in May. I'm in withdrawals.

For me it starts when I arrive at the Disney Magical Express check in and getting on the bus and waiting for the bus ride to start with the video playing the "you're arrived at Walt disney World, now what do you do" DVD.

PLanning it out then almost forgetting about it (including my days off that I took)and then remembering a few days beforehand gets me excited..Like 2 or 3 days beforehand is when I really start to feel giddy as a schoolboy...

I have a top three list of thrills.

                        1. First monorail or boat ride to the MK. Something about stepping on to either of those forms of transportation gets me.

                        2. Taking our first picture in front of the Mickey flower arrangement in front of the train station at MK.

                        3. Character breakfast at the Crystal Palace. The Winnie the Pooh characters have always been my favorite, and I have great memories from my childhood at the Crystal Palace. Chef Mickey's doesn't even come close.

The drive. It takes 24 hours and I swear the girls made me listen to that Hannah Montana show 24 times.

Still better than commercial air. I get as big a cup of coffee as I want. Actually I get one every 200 miles.

Ooh, that's a good one. I might go with that one.

When you get to the Magical Express check-in, and see your first cast member of the trip wearing the Mickey glove, that's when you really feel like the trip is real, and the World is just oh so close.
