  • [Question] Are Lanyards with Pins allowed on Carry-ons?

    Hi,

The wife & I are flying to DW and we're into pins. We have lanyards with pins and some have the locking backs and some just have the standard backs. We're flying Continental and are only dealing with carry-ons. Not sure if we can bring our pins or not. Has anyone else had to deal with this issue?

Should I contact Continental? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Tx.

I've wondered the same thing before and decided to bring a few pins in my carry-on to see how it went. I've done it a couple times now with no issues.

Yup, I've never had a problem with them in the carry ons. Should be a nonissue. :ap:

My daughter has even worn them around her neck with no issues.

          Clockworkmonkey,
          Yoyoflamingo,
          Samsa,

Thank you for the info. Great news. Now we won't have to worry about bringing our lanyards. This will be our 2nd visit since 2001. Living in CA makes it kind of difficult getting out to FL. Although we're avid DL/DCA fans, visiting 1-3+ times a year. We're looking forward to our upcomming trip. 15 Days and counting.

Has anyone done the Highlights of Europe by Disney Adventures? We're considering this either next year or the year after.

          (Shout out to Moocowmama. "Moo".)

          Thanks again.

We returned from WDW last year with an embarrassing amount of stuff, including a lot of pins. I wasn't willing to let any of it go into checked bags, so it all went into the carry-ons. We had no problems at all. The TSA restrictions can be silly, but I can't think that even they think a pin with a 1/4" shank is a weapon. What are you going to do, scratch someone until they cry uncle?

Yup just take them off your neck and send them through the xray scanner with the rest of your carry-on luggage...same goes with just about anything metal that'll set off the metal detector...

shameless plug warning-Fly Southwest and you don't have to worry about paying for checking your bags...also it helps me keep getting a paycheck

When my wife and I flew to WDW last November on Southwest our pins were in our carry ons. I asked the clerk at the counter if we needed to put them in our checked bags and he said it was fine.

Yeah, they can be taken in your carry-on. And you know those plastic play swords that light up? Those can be carried on also. But, If you have one that looks real, you'll have a problem. We just went through this in July with AirTran. It wasn't a problem.
