[Question] I'm leaving in two days and I can hardly contain myself...

I'm leaving for my first flight and first trip to WDW on Sunday morning and I cannot keep my excitement in!!! I'm 25 and I've been to DLR/DCA many times, I actually drove though so this is all new territory for me.

Does anyone have any advice or anything to say about WDW, namely what it's like when "Scattered thunder storms" is the forecast? haha

I'm going to post an ENORMOUS trip report when I get back also! :captain:

My son and his girlfriend just checked into WDW this morning for an 8 day stay. You know, after all the times I've taken my son to WDW you'd think he could take me !! I even told him I'd stay away from him and his girl the whole time!

Have fun! I'm 66 days away! Just know that it can rain at any time, but quite often, it's only for a short time and it's usually warm. Most of the time, we've managed to duck into a shop or attraction and by the time we've come out, it was done. Or keep a poncho with you, we've done that too.

Yeah, you can expect random short rainstorms every day, a poncho, jacket, or tolerance for being rained on can help. Also the ability to duck into stores or attractions.

I hope you have a great trip and look forward to your Trip Report! I assume you're going to be visiting all parks and perhaps the Halloween Party?

I'm going to my first Halloween Party myself at the end of the month, but it will be something like WDW trip #20 or such for me! Also Birthday #30...

I had a feeling it was going to be random showers, I'm used to it though, I live in Seattle.

We are going to all four parks, no water parks, the halloween party and the food and wine festival to catch one of my fave bands Sister Hazel!

*gasp* Not the 30th bday! Horrifying! lol

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about the Food and Wine Festival even though I've been looking forward to checking it out! I'll have Boyz II Men one day and John Waite the rest while I am there. There were some other acts I'd rather see, but not too bad.

I'd like to see Richard Marx tbh, which is so random since he was before my time so to speak. lol Herman's Hermits are a class act also, I think I saw them on the lineup, I just saw them last month for the second time. Love em!

But alas, I'm there during Sister Hazel, whom I adore, and someone else that I wasn't into.

I'm really interested to see how this weather will be compared to Seattle. I'm sure it will be like having a hot shower instead of the rain I'm used to!

At about 1430 to 1500 it will rain give or take so be close to a store or inside a ride qeue at that time...

WDW is basically wet and soggy when it rains. It also means that your flights in and out of Orlando will be horribly bumpy and you need to wear your seat belts at all times so you do not fly out of your seat and hit your head against the overhead bins up above. Keep the vomit bag handy in case it gets that bad, especially if you are in the back of the plane..and especially if it is a plane made by Airbus Industries (they are the bumpiest planes ever). Finally, pay attention to your flight attendants, as they are lovely people who put their lives on the line on every flight, just for your safety on board. Or else, they will pull your ears and scold you for not following Federal Regulations while riding the plane.

I see you're a TOT fan. You are sure to LOVE the TOT at Disney Hollywood Studios. Also don't miss the great Haunted Mansion, which tops the DLR version.

I know I should defer to the knowledge of TDLFAN, especially since he is a flight attendant. But I've flown into and out of Orlando dozens of times over the years, and have NEVER experienced anything even close to what he's reporting. Sure, it gets a little bit bumpy at times. But it smooths out very quickly, and isn't really any different than flying into any other airport.

The cool thing about the afternoon rain showers is that most people aren't used to how short these storms are, and when the storm hits the people all run to their car or bus or boat or monorail to get back to their room. Just wait 20 minutes or so, and the rain will clear up and you'll be enjoying a freshly cleaned park all to yourself!
