  • [Question] Upgrade birthday admission to multi-day ticket on bday, but not use until next day?

    Hi,

I'm arriving in Orlando on the afternoon of my birthday. I know Disney is strict about only allowing the free admission on your actual birthday, but I was wondering if if might be possible to show up at the ticket counter on my birthday, apply the birthday ticket towards an upgrade to a multi-day admission, but not actually begin using the multi-day ticket until the next day (our first full day in Orlando). What do you think?

    Thank you!

I think you must use your free day that day...?

The other option is to ask for one of the equivalent offers if you already have a previous admission ticket on your birthday.

I can't remember what they are right now, but I'd like to know as I will be in a situation like this on Halloween.

I thought the only other option was the "birthday fun card" and that's for annual passholders? I'm not eligible for the promotion, so I guess I am not helping much.

Oops, it would have helped if I read the FAQ.

Q: Can I upgrade my free birthday ticket to another ticket type?

A: Yes, the free birthday ticket may be upgraded to another ticket type on your birthday. However the celebrant is responsible for the incremental cost and the new ticket may only be used by the celebrant. The 1-day Magic Your Way ticket good for 12 months (an option for certain passholders and multi-day ticket holders) may not be upgraded.

Q: I purchased* a valid Passholder Pass or a Multi-Day Ticket that I will use for admission on my birthday in 2009. Is there anything else I could receive on my birthday?

A: Yes, you have several options which are available for you to select once you arrive at the Park with your confirmation message, your proper valid ID, and your Passholder Pass or Multi-Day Ticket that you will use for admission on your birthday. You can choose one of the following:
        • Disney's Special Birthday FASTPASSFASTPASSFASTPASSMagic Your Way base ticket* for you to use for certain purchases including select merchandise, recreation or tour experiences, or for Disney's PhotoPassWalt Disney WorldMagic Your Way base ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday.

How many days are you staying? The cost to add extra days to a WDW ticket becomes negligible, the longer the ticket is good for.

i.e. if you have to buy an 8-day ticket instead of a 7-day, you might only be out a few dollars.

This is a very interesting question. I upgraded my free birthday admission to a 2-day park hopper rather easily but I used it that same day. However, I would assume once you upgrade it to a normal park hopper the normal park hopper rules apply, meaning you can buy it one day and have X amount of days to use your first day.

But it is always better to be sure. I would simply call customer relations and quickly get the answer.

              Thanks everyone for your responses.

MagicWDI, it sounds like this will work. I called Disney and they said that once I upgrade to a multi-day ticket, I can come back the next day and won't have to use it immediately. Yay! Here's hoping I got the good info from the agent.

Yes, the agent gave you the right information. The ticket expires 14 days after the first use unless you add on the no expiration option. Have a great time on your birthday!
