  • Star Wars Weekends 2005

Hopefully I will be down there for this on its first week!!!

    Star Wars Weekends

    From: intercot.com

Star Wars Weekends blast into orbit May 20 and will be held four consecutive weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) through June 12, 2005.

    2005 Weekend Dates:
    May 20-22 & May 27-29
    June 3-5 & June 10-12

Star Wars fun will take place each weekend with special parades, trivia games, meet-and-greet sessions with Star Wars legends and characters, and special activities to cap off each day. The Star Tours thrill ride is the centerpiece of the celebration and activities will take place throughout Disney-MGM Studios. Activities are included with park admission. 2005 celebrities to be announced.

The Characters will be with You
One of the largest gatherings anywhere of characters from every Star Wars film -- from Kit Fisto and Boba Fett to Princess Leia and Greedo -- will roam Disney-MGM Studios greeting guests, signing autographs and posing for photographs. Even Mickey Mouse gets into the Star Wars spirit, posing for pictures in his very own Jedi costume.

    Star Wars Legends
Visiting Star Wars celebrities take part in a talk show-style conversation inside the theme park's ABC Theatre. Guests hear directly from the actors, actresses and creative minds that have brought the popular film series to life since the Star Wars first debuted in 1977. Experience the fascinating life and movie-making adventures of the 2 visiting Star Wars celebrities. The presentation includes a Q & A session. Located at the ABC theater.

    Jedi Training Academy
Throughout the day, lucky youngsters will be chosen to take part in the "Jedi Training Academy," giving Jedi hopefuls the chance to learn moves with a lightsaber. Following instruction by the Jedi Master, young Padawans are challenged to test their newly acquired lightsaber skills against one of the evil Siths.

    Jedi Mickey
See Jedi Mickey on Jedi Mickey Avenue

    Information Desk
    Located across from Sounds Dangerous
    Trivia Registration and event Information.

    The Padawan Mind Challenge
Use your Star Wars knowledge to pass the trials and become an official Padawan learner. (Ages 11 and under)

    Video Arcade
Test your skill on an assortment of Star Wars pinball and simulator games. Located on Jedi Mickey Avenue

    Star Wars Weekends Hyperspace Hoopla
Join your favorite Star Wars characters at the Star Tour's event stage as they participate in all the fun and intergalactic antics of the day's closing event.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire - Play It! - Star Wars Edition
Special editions of the popular game show attraction "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire-Play It!" will be presented, with a variety of Star Wars-inspired questions and surprise appearances by film characters. The attraction's studio audience can join in the fun by answering trivia questions using keypads installed at their seats.
    20 minute shows

    Tatooine Trivia Trials
See if you have as much Star Wars movie knowledge as a protocol droid! (Ages 12+)

    Star Tours
Guests can take flight to the moon of Endor in Star Tours, an action-packed flight simulator that salutes the Star Wars series. Synchronizing a stunning film with the virtually limitless gyrations of the simulator, the attraction takes guests on a hair-raising, light-speed trip aboard a careening star speeder. The rookie pilot tries his best to get the ship back to port while dodging comets and Imperial Tie Fighters.

    A Galaxy of Collectibles
One-of-a-Kind Collectibles -- Star Wars collectors will find a treasure trove of special-edition merchandise each weekend. Once again, Disney and Lucasfilm Ltd. have created event-exclusive Star Wars memorabilia -- from trading pins and commemorative posters to apparel, medallions and other limited-edition items -- that will be available in Tatooine Traders. With a look inspired by scenes in the Star Wars movies, the retail location is adjacent to the Ewok Village set at the Star Tours attraction.

Events & Details subject to change.

My family would LOVE to go. (really BIG Star Wars fans!!!!!) But we just can't afford to go. My son begged to go last year but I was pregnant and couldn't fly and it wouldn't be fair to leave mommy at home. If someone could get a poster for me I would give a great big hug if I could. My son would be jumping for joy. He watches Star Wars at least once a week or more.

I hope that they make the pin just like the poster. They did last year and it looked really good!

Man do I wish I could go. I felt like a 9-year-old when we saw Luke and Leia in the MGM parade. I'm sure this would be a blast. It sounds like this is an annual event? Maybe I can go some other year.

              Rats!!! Just missed it...

              Dangnabitall, anyways!

We will be leaving the week before the 1st of these weekends. My son was really looking forward to seeing Chewbacca [although he would have run like a bat out of hell the other way the second Chewie came into sight!]. And I wanted to give Star Wars WWTBAM a try. What would be a good $1M question for that?

And now, Star Wars geek-boy, What was Han Solo's mom's name?

              or

Just what is wrong with Jar-Jar?

We will still have a good time, but this would have been fun to do, too.

                I'll take:
Mother had too many Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters during pregnancy

                Final answer.

But seriously, Jedi Mickey! I hope someone (Kevin?) will get and post some pictures!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

 That reminds me of a cartoon I did for my friends and co-workers when Phantom Menace was released. I wish I still had it.

Oh, and BTW: be aware, if you're visiting Disney/MGM anytime soon, that the AT-AT (Imperial Walker) in front of Star Tours is being rehabbed. Hopefully they'll get it done in time for Star Wars Weekends...

When I went last year in May I forgot that we were there during the opening day of Star Wars Weekends 2004. I am making it a top priority to visit MGM this coming trip.

We went 2 years ago for opening and I remember standing in the 98 degree heat watching the parade and thinking "I'm such a Star Wars dork".

Does anyone have any idea what a question at the trivia challenge might be like? are they Star Wars history/character questions, or more behind the scenes questions like who's the key grip from phantom menace?

it is anything even related to Star Wars and Lucasfilms. From actual movie sequences to history of the films production. They might throw an Indy question inthere too!

They might use questions from the new Trivia Pursuit DVD game that will come out soon. I saw a preview of that game. Looks really hard. But I'll buy it anyway.
