  • [Question] Will you go to the 40th anniversary?

I know I'm more than a year early....but, our family is planning on going in Oct 2011. We're taking a WDW break in 2010, and hopefully all our family will be going on the 2011 trip.

Who else is planning on going?

Perhaps I'm doing the math wrong, but isn't 2011 the fortieth anniversary?
    someday, when we are wiser,
    when the world's older,
    when we have learned

No your math is right, it opened in 1971. Which puts 2011 at the 40th Anniversary not the 50th.

i participate in another board where the nice factor is virtually non-existent. It can be pretty hilarious. A thread like this would be loaded with FAIL pics (posted with love of course). Would that be against micechat protocol?

        This would be an example:

Not quite sure I understand? What is the fail? Someone accidentally typed a 4 instead of a 5? Or did math wrong? Not sure why it would be ok to make fun of someone (even "with love" )

To be on topic... I am sure that I'll be making a trip in 2011, but there are no plans yet.
          Good morning, son
          In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
          It was pain
          Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

This would answer the protocol question for this message board.

People come from different back grounds. In the group of friends i grew up with, if it's funny, it's ok. Sometimes pointing out errors made by your friends is funny. Initially the person who made the error might not think so, but the laughter and reassurance of still being liked by the group makes it better and helps change the perspective of the burn from being an insult to being a fine jest. East coasters coined the phrase for this known as "Busting B@%%$".

Re: Will you go to the 40th anniversary?

Well, if WDW plans some really exciting things for their 40th Anniversary, I hope to be able to plan a return visit there. My August 2009 visit was a lot of fun. We stayed at Pop Century. There are many resorts that we haven't stayed at yet, so perhaps I can scratch another one off my list.

So, yes I loved to be able to return to WDW in 2011. My first visit there was for their 25th Anniversary. The castle was a cake, and we had a really great time.

Sorry I put 50th instead of 40th....I was in a rush, headed out the door for church, and did a drive by posting. Thanks to whoever fixed it!

Re: Will you go to the 40th anniversary?

I plan on visiting all the parks this coming spring, but after that not for a few more years, as I am moving to the west coast. But in the meantime I will get to see all the new developments at DCA and hopefully also a trip out to Tokyo. Also, New Fantasyland should be complete by the time I get to return.

That being said...if they ever get around to removing that BAH, I may well make a special trip just for the occasion.

That's our conflict. We want to go for the anniversary...and since it's in Oct...that means we'd be there for MNSSHP. But, I also want to be there for when they finish FantasyLand. What to do, what to do? LOL

I'd like to be there but two years is a little too far off to plan a trip.

I remember that the 25th Anniversary lasted for a very long time. Much longer than a year. It was similar to the 50th Anniversary at Disneyland later on.

                            I live 90 minutes from WDW, so there's a chance Wonderpup & I might make a cameo.

2011 is the year of my next Disneyland adventure, so it's safe to say that I will probably not be there.

Like Wonderpup, I live a couple hours away from WDW. So long as I still live in the state of Florida, I WILL go.

I'm probably going to WDW and Universal (Harry Potter!) with my parents sometime in 2010. As for 2011, if DLR gets Little Mermaid and Star Tours 2 before WDW does, my odds of being there for the 40th will go down dramatically. I'll say 50/50 chance for now.

I'll probably be there because I go every year! :ap:

That said, I hope they do more for the 40th than they did for the 35th, or for Epcot's 25th. They haven't been so good about observing anniversaries lately. I hope for the 40th they get flashy new fireworks shows for the parks, new parades, maybe even new (or old) rides, like Disneyland got for its 50th.

I made a special trip to WDW to celebrate the 25th. For my trouble, I got to hang out in Tomorrowland near a big diamond vision tv screen and watch while the 1076 member band marched down Main Street and Eisner and Hillary spoke at the main stage in front of the castle. I was so pissed at Disney for promoting this big event and then not letting me anywhere near it. So no, I won't be making any special effort for the 40th. I'll be visiting a couple times a year, just like I always do. But I'll be avoiding Oct. 1, 2011 like the plague.
