  • [Question] Florida Residents buying tickets for Out-of-State guests?

When did WDW start checking IDs for all adults entering the parks on Florida Resident tickets? And how strict are they about this?
I moved away from FL to Southern CA in '99 - and have bought Southern California discount passes for friends from NorCal when we wanted to go to DL and CA - as recently as '04.
We're going to visit my family in FL for Christmas, and wanted to spend a few days in Orlando- I wanted to go back to Epcot, and my stepdaughter really wants to go see Animal Kingdom, as none of us have been there. However, three-day passes for all of us are almost $300 each - a bit rich for our blood.
It used to be that you only had to have the FL resident buy the tickets, and you could take friends from out-of-town...

I just did that for out of town friends last june. Notsure if they have started looking for IDs, but to this day, I have not seen them check Ids at all.

We are WDW APs, and we have not been asked for ID, except for using the tickets to park. You wouldn't have parking included in the tickets, so you shouldn't have to worry about ID at all.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and they checked my school id when I bought the ticket. I went to college in FL and my college ID has done lots for me. No one asked when entering the park.

To buy the Florida resident park tickets you have to show proof of Florida residency.

Or check out OrlandoFunTickets.com. They're a MiceChat sponsor.

True, aimster, but if their family buys the tickets (proving they themselves are FL residents), they are unlikely to check the ID of the actual person running the ticket through the machine. It has never happened to me.

I thought it was one FL resident ticket per ID.

Thanks, all - the way I remember it, the local resident would buy tickets for the group, and get the FL resident rate, using their in-state driver's license. Worked the same way buying tickets for DL and CA in Anaheim - but I haven't been there in about 5 years, either.

To be honest, I'm not sure how it works, as I've never had to buy tickets for guests... yet. However, from my experiences using my passes, I have never had to show ID. When buying them we did though, so I would assume that the purchaser must show ID, but the user would not need to.

Don't they ask for the names of the guests for each ticket now? So even if you bought them, wouldn't they require the ID's of every person in your party?

I think that might be the issue - was hoping that someone on here from FL might have done this recently.

From what I have been told by a Disney representative, a Florida resident can buy the tickets online and they are sent an email confirmation. When the resident goes to pick them up at Will Call, each person getting a ticket has to show Florida resident ID. If they cannot provide it, they have to upgrade to a regular ticket.

                          ^^ That's what I figured.
