  • [Pictures] Getting Intimate With The Castle

Back in July I took a series of pictures of Cinderella's castle using my Sony 75-300 zoom lens. Obviously, that's been some time now. The first time I went through the photos I was only looking for artistic views. Well, today, I decided to go back through said pictures and I'm having a bit of a hard time with what I'm seeing. We all know that Disney isn't known for keeping things completely "out-of-the-box" new (particularly at WDW), but it amazed me just what the camera picks up that my eyes never have. So here they are, not to bring about complaints or bash in any way, but to share and let other see just what they may have not before!

First, some of the shots I set out to get:

Then, these. I'm not going to comment on these (I'll leave that up to you guys) and if anyone has any real reasoning behind any of these random pipes, graffiti and such- please explain!

    Enjoy!

In regards to the bottom photo, that is the zip line that is used when Tinkerbell flies at the beginning of wishes. In the photo you can see the gate they have to open to let her go.

The photo above that, with the pipes I beleive that those are either cell phone antennas or pipes used to launch Pyrotechnic effects for the stage shows. You'll also notice that there is one of the many security cameras in the picture

I don't have a problem with what those photos show. The Castle isn't meant to be looked at that closely. Unless you're zooming in with some major lenses you'll never notice those things.

          Wow... uhh. That's very intimate.

All I gotta say is ":/". You'd think the castle would be spotless.

I think the "graffitti" he was referring to was the markings on the door next to the photo with the surveillance camera. I am not really sure what that is but I have a close up of that same spot also and it isn't in the picture, it might be a temporary marking for some reason, wouldn't expect it to be there long. The camera has been there for years now but unless you know it is there I think it is fairly undetectable. Though once you see it you wonder how you never noticed it before especially with those pipes, which I have often wondered what they were for. I also have a close zoom pic of the gate and only noticed there was a hinged gate after looking at the full size image. It can't be seen from the ground. I don't recall the strap on the column to the right though, the pic I have was from 2006.

Don't see a problem with any of these imperfections on the castle they are necessary and unavoidable. Except for the hanging loose wire over the balcony to the left of the zip line that is just bad show.

yeah I agree at the distances that you are normally viewing the castle this takes nothing away...the castle pretty much looks spotless from the ground which is what matters to the folks who are eyeballing the castle through a high powered lens

Ohhh Ahhh! Walt Disney World detail! Love it! And again... I see Cinderella's Castle.. aged, mature yet still beautiful as ever.
