Re: Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom - Pictures

Awesome pics! Thank you very much for sharing! Liberty Square has always been my favorite land at the MK. What camera were you using?

Wumbology, NOS is winding and intimate because that is representative of New Orleans. To make LS as such might have pleased some aesthetically. But it would not have correctly represented the NE American townships back in the late 1700's. Much like WDW, they had tons of space to spread things out.

I use a Canon Powershot S2 IS that I have had for 5 years, I tend to simply use the automatic settings, I don't like fumbling with the bells and whistles too much. It's a pretty good balance of a smallish camera with better non-flash indoor outcomes than most of the pocketsize models. I shoot in 1600x1200 size, good for keeping a large amount of pics at a decent quality but not good for printing at a large size...but then I never print so its fine.

The daytime ones were in the first few hours of park opening on a nice uncrowded January day. Uncrowded days are the only days to go for me, even if I am not going on many rides...I'm not a gaggles-of-people person!

Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom - Pictures

I posted many threads of pictures from Walt Disney World but I never got around to posting any from the Magic Kingdom, so here they are! I will post them in separate threads for each land. With just a few exceptions, all were taken in January 2010.

                    This is true.

Maybe it's because this Colonial America experience is not so unique... Colonial Williamsburg, etc. But I do like how it is reminiscent of WDW's early years, because the park opened right before the Bicentennial.

Apparently, that's why Liberty Square is the way it is, with two large-capacity restaurants, and three large-capacity attractions. Because it was going to be so popular for the Bicentennial.

Re: Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom - Pictures

Great post geomorph! LS is such a well-themed and oft-overlooked little gem of the Magic Kingdom. It's something we can truly say is ours, and has never been cloned to any other park. And it's got a riverboat, which gives it points in my book.

That first picture reminded me, I've always thought that Disney should have a few boxes marked "tea" floating in the moat between Liberty Square and the Castle, as if someone had thrown them in...

I never realized how much I like Liberty Square...till, when I was looking at your pictures, I caught myself going..."aw! I miss that place!" "aw! I love that spot!"

Particularly, Liberty Tree Tavern...many great meals had there! The Christmas Shop.....I could spend a small fortune in there! Sleepy Hollow Refreshments...there's never a bad time for a funnel cake! The HM.....one of my daughter's favorite rides.

Just SOO many good things about it. Thanks for sharing your pics!

I love that little yellow alien in Stitch's ride. I always wanna take him home with me. He looks so sad!

These are fantastic photos, and definitely show me next trip to Florida I have to just spend a day meandering about the Magic Kingdom and looking at details, with rides being the "second priority". Great captures of a lot of detail I'd never viewed before, having been in this park 3 or 4 times now.

I love Toontown Fair! It's so colorful and whimsical! My daughter has reached the age where she doesn't race towards there as fast as she used to. She still loves Goofy's Barnstormer...but, prefers Splash Mt. LOL. But, I have wonderful memories...and pictures of her playing in Miss Daisy's boat!
