It's off to a slow start but Cast Members seems to be picking up speed. Day 1 consisted of a lot of backed up logs due to slow loading.
As previous threads have demonstrated I'm sure I'll upset some MCers. I don't mind them

I've read several reports that the lap bars really aren't a problem, and actually provide leg room with the absence of the old handle bars. It's love it or hate it, as stated in the title.

It doesn't intrude on the theme, so as long as its comfortable I have absolutely no problem with them.

oh whatever. I love them to pieces! Those lap bars have capture my heart and I look forward to taking a series of photos with them. Screw the castle. My memory card will be filled with lapbar photos. Love them!

They match the rest of the "log"
and I think they'll make some guests feel safer
and this will help them enjoy the ride more.

I can understand why people would be disappointed over this, but it's really not that bad as many think. Definitely nowhere near as bad as what's happened with Disneyland's version where they've cut rider capacity to add high backrests. Add to that a new height requirement for riders sitting in the front seat. The way I see it, lap bars are really not that big a deal.

I don't have a strong feeling one way or the other. Do I gladly welcome them? No. But in the end, I don't think they'll make a difference when it comes to the experience of the ride.

Once we get used to them being there, it'll feel like the same 'ol Splash Mountain that we know and love.

What prompted these? Were people getting out and wandering about the ride? I wonder because Pirates gets shut down from time to time due to really dumb people wanting to take a walking tour. I hope that ride's not next.

I don't think people were actually getting OUT of the boats completely in general. Just standing up in their seats or whatever. I've had this happen personally with someone in the same boat, it trips some sort of sensors or whatever. The rest of the boat was angrily telling him to sit down.

It's nothing more than to keep people from getting out of their seats. Personally, i welcome this. It really is a huge issue with ignorant guests who feel inclined to ruin the ride for everyone else by forcing the ride to halt (poor Brer Bear and Fox always get the blame). It happens all the time too, it's a huge issue that seriously slows stuff down.

The new seats look like they've got more room now for longer legged guest like myself. It really doesn't bug me in the slightest, though i'll need to try them out before making a first hand assessment.

Since we can't fix stupid guests from either standing up on the ride or bailing out before the last drop, I'm for them. My last visit with this ride was halted everytime for a guest bailing out of the log because they were scared of the drop.

Personally I don't mind them at all as long as they work, if it's like the ones on BTM it may lend itself to a false sense of security if you have a larger person next to a really small person and the bar not closing down enough to secure the little one in the log but hopefully they have thought of that. :ap:

Will certainly stop or at least hinder people from trying to get out of the logs in the middle of the ride which should speed things up but my big question is this...

Is it "fluffy person friendly?" yes there's more room in the front and all but has anyone who is plus sized ridden it yet who can report back to the rest of us?
