  • [Rumor] DVC Wing at the Grand Floridian?

Recently filed with the South Florida Water Management District is a set of plans for an unspecified building between the Grand Floridian and Wedding pavilion. There is apparently a reworking of drainage, as well as a reworking of the shoreline along Seven Seas Lagoon. While the plans don't specify what the building is for, it seems apparent a DVC unit for the resort is an option. While of course there's no guarantee that it will come to fruition, it is interesting that a permit was filed with the water district.

    It's a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah...Tip for Today!

I always thought the seclusion was one of the best features of the Wedding Pavilion.

This wing has been in the works for a long time. I think it is inevitable that it will get built, but the question is when.

The filing of permits would indicate sooner rather than later.

Eww, how many more DVCs does one freakin resort need? I mean seriously...must they taint all the older hotels with DVC add-ons? If they do this then the last deluxe resorts on property w/o DVC villas will be the Polynesian and Yacht Club (though the Beach Club covers both the Yacht and Beach Resorts since they're connected).

I'd rather they build a brand new DVC resort over ruining preexisting ones like what they did with the Contemporary.

I agree. Unless there is acutally a need for more DVC, I see no need to be building so many more rooms so soon. they just recently opened Bay Lake Tower, Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, etc..... I like the Grand Floridian the way it is and I don't want it changed.

Plus I quite like spending some time at the Poly and walking along the "beach" to the GrFl.

Actually, Bay Lake Tower is in sell out phase...but Saratoga and Animal Kingdom Lodge are still available. Not saying it's a good idea or not, but there clearly is a demand for DVCs with great locations...
