Disney executive changes: Head of Disney's theme parks makes executive changes - OrlandoSentinel.com

Meg Crofton now oversees all US parks and France in the new position of President of Operations, while Karl Holz, in charge of the Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney now is also in charge of DVC. This could be bad news...

I said it in the other thread, http://micechat.com/forums/disneylan...ney-parks.html, but I think it shows that Staggs was not looking to make big changes.

Yeah, I was going to post in the Disneyland forum after this and saw your post. It seems bad news for Disneyland if nothing else.

Might as well just implode the parks now and save us the headaches.

i agree. With Her Highness in charge they might as well just sell them now because there is NO good outcome of this. This will be Paul/Cynthia on steroids.

What has Meg done positively for WDW? Attendance was down.. the few positives for the resort i.e.: tiana's showboat jubilee, the fantasyland expansion, the new star tours, the magic memories and you, etc. were forced on them by corporate and they tried to avoid having to pay for...

Not trying to be a hater just.. she's always seemed to be Ed Grier's counterpart out east... just kinda is there but you never see her and doesn't implement anything for the park with a perceptible benefit. By all means list her accomplishments.

Maybe Meg is being put into a figurehead position? Seems unlikely though, especially since she keeps her job as president of WDW

Re: Meg Crofton and Karl Holz promoted!

personally i think if the big bosses put more power into the hands of lower management (i.e. individual park managers which isn't really that low if you think about it ) for producing new things for the parks with a fair sized "improvements" budget it would help things out a lot. You cut out the middle man essentially and don't have to go through as many bosses to get something accomplished. that way people in the middle like Croft could just be focused on overseeing day to day operations and tweaks to the budget as opposed to major decisions and additions to the parks. this also creates a competition atmosphere between park managers, now your not promoting the guy that saved the most money last quarter, you've given them more freedom so your looking to promote the one who raised their attendance the most or ran their park in the best possible manner. A little competition can go a long way. I think that would help a lot, but we all know what the key to any and all success is, a Disney CEO that thinks like us

Let me explain corporate politics fast: those who do the least and/or screw up the most get promoted the fastest. This is why I will always be a hangar/line mechanic.

At this point, I can forget about ever seeing DAK and DHS expanded before I die. And yeah I may be only 27 but at the rate progress goes at WDW, it aint gonna happen now.

Can someone explain what specifically Meg has done to earn her repuation of not being qualified for the promotion. I am not doubting there is cause, I just don't really know much about her and decisions she has made.

^^^ I agree, what specifically has she, herself, done to deserve this extraordinary level of hysteria? I think Disney fans have quite a bizarre tendency to turn corporate managers into almost public figures, semi-celebrities, whether it's for good or bad reasons. I wonder why this is. Is it because people find it easier to pin praise/complaints on a single figure head rather than several faceless managers? It must be, because I'm sure the apparent destruction of Walt Disney World can't be down entirely to the fault of this unassuming corporate drone.
