  • [Question] Just wondering...

If you could design a resort based on a Disney movie/park/ride, what would you base it on? I know it's a bit silly...
You can either do one, two, or all three. I'll do all three for my example.

Movie: A Fox and the Hound themed resort. It would probably be in the Moderate resort category. It would be called something amongst the idea of "Best Friends Resort" or "The Woodlands Resort". The rooms would be based on scenes from the movies. Family suites would be based on Fox and the Hound 2 while regular rooms would be based on the first movie. It would be located near Animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom.

Park: Hollywood Studios themed resort. Probably Value or Moderate. Family Suites designed after Sunset Boulevard and regular rooms would be based on the Sorcerer's Hat. Located near HS, duh...

Ride: Maybe an it's a small world themed resort. Value. Family Suites designed on the very last room (the all white room at the end of the ride) and regular rooms would be based on the countries during the ride. Located near MK.

I'd like to know what people would come up with for a WDW resort idea.
:yea: I'm Silver. And I've been a Mouseketeer since 1994!

    Creative idea!

Based on a movie: A Peter Pan resort. It would have an over-all jungle feel, with different sections based on different areas of Neverland, such as a pirate area, Indian area, Pixie Hollow area (I know, not part of the original movie. So sue me.), Mermaid lagoon.

Based on a Park: An Epcot resort. A Futureworld part, with futuristic designs, and a World Showcase part, with each building in the architectural style of a different country represented from Epcot.

Based on a Ride: Pirates of the Carribean. Everything all pirate-y, and nautical-y.

For all three of these, of course the appropriate music would be piped in, from the particular attraction, park, or flick. As for price, why not deluxe, but in my fantasy, I'd be able to afford it.

I love the idea of the "it's a small world" resort. I'd stay there!

Movie: A moderate resort based on Mary Poppins. The decor would be very Edwardian, with floral wallpaper, brass beds, and overstuffed wing chairs with lace doilies. The Mousekeeping staff would be dressed like the Banks' servants, and there would be a landscaped English garden in the back, with chalked pictures on the sidewalks. Maybe a restaurant above the lobby could have a transparent floor, so you'd feel like you were having a tea party on the ceiling.

Ride: The Haunted Mansion. I'd be happy if it was just decorated in the same style.

        Hmm.. good question.

Movie - The Rocketeer resort. Dancing nightly at The South Seas Club!

Park - EPCOT Center resort. (Looks like me and sbk1234 are on the same wavelength with this one! )

Ride - Horizons resort. Who wouldn't want to stay in a room based on either the Easy Living Window or any of the Windows of the Future?

I would build a legit Tower of Terror Hotel, with suites on the 13th Floor.

Still something I dream comes true.

This is a great idea! I love it!

            Lets see...

Movie: When I was little I ahd thought of a Beauty and the Beast themed resort. It would have a facade of the Beasts castle like the one on top of the Be Our Geust Resturaunt. Only much bigger. The more interesting rooms would of course be in the west wing. Each room would have it's own magic rose, and an enchanted mirror on the wall could be connected to cameras all over the resort. The main eatery would of course be in the dining room from the movie. And how's this for an interesting idea? A theater showing nigthly performances, of the broadway production of Beauty and the Beast. THis would probably be a moderate or deluxe resort.

Actually, since Horizons was the all-time greatest Disney attraction ever built, I like your idea for a Horizons resort better than my POC resort.

And with your moniker, how about an Adventurers' Club resort?

Movie- 101 Dalmatians Resort/wing of a London streets themed resort. With the check in and Lobby inside Pongo and Perdita's home. Cruella DeVil Suite. Could very easily be paired with mary poppins and peter pan. Into one big london themed resort.

                Park- Epcot.

                Ride- Everest Lodge.

                    Re: Just wondering...

Movie- I would say Robin Hood, warm atmosphere, and can have lots of fun activities for the kids in Sherwood Forest

Park-I would have to say The Living Seas...can have a manatee area, the whole shebang

Ride-I love KingErics Tower of Terror hotel...I would definitely have to stay in one of the 13th floor suites..

I like the sound of that. You'd have to have the Tip Top Club as part of the nightly entertainment.

Thank you. The more I think about it the more I think it would make an awesome hotel. They could have a restaurant that overlooks an orange grove or the Sea Castle restaurant with those bubble windows.

Oooh now you're talking. Check in would be a nightmare, but you'd at least get a discount if you gave the right salute.

101 sounds a great idea, but I'm really intrigued on the Everest Lodge. The theming would be incredible.

                          Re: Just wondering...

Movie: Swiss Family Robinson with tree house villas within walking distance of the beach for everybody.

Park: Magic Kingdom. One can certainly make the argument that the resorts surrounding the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake already fulfill this purpose with the Grand Floridian as Main Street USA, Polynesian as Adventureland, Contemporary as Tomorrowland, and Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge serving as Frontierland. It would still be cool to have a resort with sections themed to each, especially because there's no Fantasyland one yet.

Ride: Horizons. How cool would it be to have a resort with Sea Castle, Brava Centauri, Nova Cite, and Mesa Verde sections; Not to mention Easy Living and Future from the 50s! I wonder if you could order a space station shaped birthday cake from room service on the 3d holophone or wall video screen.
