  • [Question] Should they retry the 3rd Host idea for American Adventure?

I saw an Interview with Randy Bright where he talked about when they were first developing the American Adventure they were going to have 3 hosts, one for each Century that America had existed. Ben Franklin "represented" the 18th Century, Mark Twain the 19th Century, and Will Rogers was going to represent the 20th Century. That's the reason his figure is in the show, he was originally going to be one of the hosts.

Randy Bright said they took the idea to a History class and no one knew who Will Rogers was so they cut the hosts down to just 2, with Mark Twain doing Double Duty......but is it time to bring Will Rogers back?

The shows been around for Almost 30 years now....lots and LOTS of people have seen it. Will Rogers has been a big part of the show since the beginning and if nobody knows who he is by NOW than they aren't paying attention. Rogers was a Political Commentator, and a humorist and he fits in perfectly with the other two hosts.

For the host you don't want to get someone who is too associated with one certain thing. Someone like Martin Luther King Jr is a bad choice because he's all about Civil rights, and the 20th Century isn't all about that. You need someone who, for the most part, represents a neutral position but can still present his section of the show in a way that's true to his character...

What do you think? Do you agree, or do you have another choice for host?

It's one of the least tampered with rides left at Epcot. Id rather keep it like that.

No one knows who Will Rogers is. You need someone like Steve Jobs or Walt Disney... unfortunately they both might be a tad self-serving.

We all know that show will never get altered. At least not until history majorly changes to a point where it's necessary.
It doesn't really need to, either - it's pretty near perfect.

Well with Jobs recent passing, his family may be more willing to allowing his likeness to be used...though representing the 20th century maybe best be done in another 5 years that way it's more of a representationof how people in the 21st view the 20th

I agree that Will Rogers is not well known by most folks. I think that the current show is excellent as it is now and there is no need for change. A few years out they could edit and expand the film with more 'current events' but this is a case where things are great already. IMHO...

Honestly, I'd probably add both Walt Disney and Steve Jobs... they lived in pretty different generations, and Walt can pick up just where Mark Twain left off... (died) And Steve can pick up where Walt died. It actually works...
