  • Trip Report Splash Mountain finale effects turned off 1/22

Not sure if this is a long-standing problem at Splash or not, as I haven't ridden much in recent months, but all the robotics were turned off on Jan. 22 (both at 5pm and again at 8pm). The boat itself is rocking, but the characters on it are frozen. See for yourself:

Surely there's a point at which 'enough' robotics break that they'd turn the ride off, right?

Re: Splash Mountain finale effects turned off 1/22

I know at Universal Orlando they have a point system for effects that aren't working, and when an attraction hits 10 points it is shut down.

I would assume Disney has some sort of system like this, but I have never heard of it.

BTW in your video is the grey hen on the very right side headless, or is she just frozen with her head tilted back?

Either way that is HORRIBLE BAD SHOW.

Wow, that is really bad indeed. Inexcusably awkward.

They were working when I was there in December perfectly, like on the 30 when I rode.
quite strange and weird because a lot of them look like there heads we're chopped off :/

          Yikes.

          TDO should be utterly ashamed.

There seem to be similar issues at Disneyland's Splash Mountain. Hopefully they're planning to fix the broken AA's and can take care of both at the same time.

That is creepy. It's like some cruise of the damned, full of dead animals.

Splash was just down for a refurb, so this shouldn't be happening.

ORDDU: Splash Mountain often has various effects not working these days--like the jumping Br'er Rabbit and even the shadows of Br'er Bear & Br'er Fox chasing Br'er Rabbit over the hill near the little bunny who's sweeping off his porch. It's such a shame that they don't maintain this, otherwise, wonderful attraction.

wonder if it's communications or control system problems.. and not the AAs themselves.

Doesn't make sense to have entire masses of AAs down and up in groups if it were just AA mechanics... plus with the recent refurb you would think AAs themselves would be more reliable.

Given the vast swings we've seen lately, I'd wager there are 'bigger' problems looming causing the AAs to be 'off'.

It was probably just some sort of glitch in the system, perhaps that area was having an overheating issue so there was an automatic shutdown of robotics. Who knows.. I can only assume it must be a power supply thing since all the AA's are down. I'm sure they are working now.

Hard to tell if they were turned off purposely or not since that one hen is attempting to sway back and forth. Kevin, did you report this or ask questions?

That is seriously creepy and just flat out BAD SHOW. No excuses. Kevin, I hope you mentioned it to someone. These problems with Splash Mountain have been going on for FAR too long. Something needs to be done.

I did mention it to them, politely of course. Long story short: this has apparently gone on for a few weeks, and they are "waiting for parts" to fix it. Um.... just no.
